Starting May 6th, 2024, the player service fee of $5.00 per event (maximum $10) for amateur tournament play and $25 per event for professional play will be collected by Pickleball Brackets at the point the player registers and pays for their
tournament registration. This fee collection will be enabled by Stripe Payments.
When the players credit card is being processed, the Pickleball Brackets’ player
service fee will be remitted directly to Pickleball Brackets, and the tournament
registration related fees will be remitted to the tournament operator. Texting fees
($0.25 per player) and any additional fees (complementary registrations, on-site
registrations, etc.) will be processed via the tournament operator’s credit card at the appropriate time after the close of the tournament.
The following are answers to common questions you might have:
· Why can’t I continue to use my PayPal account?
Unfortunately, PayPal does not provide a good way for the Pickleball Brackets
to collect the player service fee when a player makes payment for their
tournament registration fee. There is also a benefit in that Stripe’s payment
processing fees are generally lower than PayPal.
· Will I be able to use my PayPal account to collect player registration fees after May 6th, 2024?
You will be able to continue to use an existing PayPal account to collect
payment until July 1st, 2024, after which point you will be required to use a
Stripe Payments account. For most tournament operators, the process for
getting a Stripe Payments account is a simple process and you can click here
to set up your Stripe Payments account.
· If I already have a Stripe Payment account that I use to collect tournament player registration payments, is there anything I need to do?
No, it will automatically start remitting the player service fee to Pickleball
Brackets starting on May 6th.
· What about player service fees that were collected as part of tournament player registration payments before May 6th, 2024?
These player registration fees will be collected from the tournament
operator’s credit card at the close of the tournament as they were prior to
May 6th.
· How will the player service fee for complementary player registrations and payments onsite at the tournament work?
These player registration fees will continue to be collected from the
tournament operator’s credit card at the close of the tournament.
· Will my Pickleball Brackets tournament dashboard and my tournament fees invoice show what was collected directly from players and what is owed at the end of the tournament?
Yes. The Pickleball Brackets tournament dashboard and tournament fees
invoice will break out fees collected directly from players and the fees owed
by the tournament operator.
· Once I have my Stripe Payments account, how do I enable it on my tournament?
In the “Payments” setup section of your tournament, you will “connect” your
tournament to your Stripe account by simply clicking on the “Connect with
Stripe” button and logging into your Stripe account.
· If I can’t get a Stripe Payments account by July 1st, 2024, what are my options?
Pickleball Brackets will continue to offer an escrow payment service where we
will collect the player service fee and the player tournament registration fee
and remit the player tournament registration fee to you at the appropriate
time.
· Where can I go to learn more about Stripe Payments?
