For Players: DUPR Ratings are now live for tournament and league play!

Today we have released updates to Pickleball.com, PickleballTournaments.com and PickleballBrackets.com that enable a player’s DUPR rating to be used for tournament and league play. We are also providing all tournament and league match data created by matches played today and going forward to DUPR automatically at the completion of the match for future DUPR ratings updates.

The following is what you need to do next so that you are ready to join your next tournament or league utilizing DUPR rating:

  • If you don’t have a DUPR account, you can create one by clicking here. It is a quick and simple process and will be required to join almost all tournaments and leagues going forward.
  • If you do have a DUPR account, you will need to log into your Pickleball.com account (your PickleballBrackets.com account credentials work here as well) and complete the “Connect DUPR” process.  Click here for a step-by-step guide to connect to DUPR.

There are a few things to understand about the DUPR integration:

  1. DUPR does not take gender into account when producing its singles and doubles ratings. Gender doubles, mixed doubles and coed doubles (i.e.: any combination of male and female players) matches will all be submitted for your DUPR doubles rating processing. For more information on how DUPR ratings are calculated click here.
  2. At this point, only matches completed from today going forward will be sent to DUPR automatically for ratings processing. You always have the ability to manually enter prior matches through the DUPR website and process. For more information click here.
  3. Tournaments that have been created using the Pickleball Brackets Rating (PBR) or the World Pickleball Rating (WPR) and have started or completed registration may choose to either complete the tournament using these ratings or choose to convert to using the DUPR rating at the sole discretion of the Tournament Director.
  4. League sessions that have been created using the Pickleball Brackets Rating (PBR) or the World Pickleball Rating (WPR) and have started or completed registration will complete using these ratings.
  5. In the case where the PBR or WPR is used for a tournament or a league session, matches where all participants in the match have connected their Pickleball.com profile to DUPR will be submitted to DUPR. If any participant in a match has not connected their Pickleball.com profile to DUPR, then the match will not be sent to DUPR for ratings processing. In order to provide visibility into when this is the case, we will be providing an indicator next to players in the tournament or a league session who have not connected their Pickleball.com profile to DUPR.

FAQs

Will my previous matches that made up my WPR or PBR be sent to DUPR once the integration is in place on July 29, 2024?

At this time, only matches staring July 29th, 2024 are automatically being sent to DUPR for your DUPR rating. However, our development teams are working on a process to allow for historical match data as well. Stay tuned!

Somehow, I have multiple accounts between Pickleball.com, PickleballBrackets and PickleballTournaments. What should I do to make sure my correct account gets connected to my DUPR account?

If you have multiple accounts between PickleballBrackets, Pickleball.com or PickleballTournaments, please reach out to customer support for assistance merging your accounts into one profile before you connect your DUPR account.

What if I have multiple DUPR accounts?

If you have multiple accounts on DUPR, please reach out to the DUPR support team to claim your various accounts and merge them into one. Once this is complete, you may connect your DUPR profile to your Pickleball.com profile.

I’m not sure if I have a DUPR account already. How do I check?

If you have participated in pickleball tournaments in the past, it’s possible that an account was created for you by a tournament director. Please “check the following link”: https://dashboard.dupr.com/claim to see if an account already exists. If you find that you do have an unclaimed account, you will need to claim that account to gain full access to DUPR. This ensures all your past records and activities are correctly attributed to you.

If you do not have an unclaimed DUPR account, create your free DUPR account. Then follow the steps on Pickleball.com to connect your DUPR account to your Pickleball.com account. (It’s easy!)

How frequently will my results update once I’ve merged my accounts?

When you have connected your accounts, results from DUPR events organized on PickleballTournaments and PickleballBrackets will update automatically. Tournaments will update as soon as the tournament director has locked the tournament and league matches will update as soon as the Game Day is finalized by the league coordinator.

What if I don’t see my scores or matches updated?

First, reach out to your tournament director or league coordinator to verify the event was finalized. If the events were finalized, you can next reach out to the DUPR support team to verify the matches were received. Finally, you can reach out to the support team at Pickleball.com.

How will this help to prevent sandbagging?

The integration between Pickleball.com and DUPR prevents sandbagging by giving organizers and players the tools to ensure that players are signing up for brackets at their DUPR rating. Tournaments that are organized using DUPR make it much more difficult for sandbagging to occur since DUPR ratings are based on actual match data. Sandbagging has no place in DUPR’s community, and our rating system actively works to identify and flag sandbagging to event organizers and tournament directors.

Do all participants in a match have to have connected the Pickleball.com account profile to DUPR in order for the match to be processed for DUPR ratings?

Yes, at the moment, in order to use the DUPR API for automatic ratings processing, all participants in a match must have a DUPR ID. The only means we have to know your DUPR ID is for you to connect your Pickleball.com account profile to DUPR.

How will I know if my tournament has decided to convert to use the DUPR rating?

The Tournament Director (TD) will notify you that the tournament will be using the DUPR rating and asking you to complete the connection of your Pickleball.com account profile to DUPR. The TD will have a report of who in their tournament has not completed their connection to DUPR so that they can ensure that this is completed before the tournament start so that all matches can be successfully submitted to DUPR automatically for ratings processing.

What if a tournament converts to DUPR and my DUPR for that event is either higher or lower than the skill level I’m currently registered for?

The TD may at their discretion move you to the level indicated by your DUPR rating. This will most likely be the case when the skill level indicated by your DUPR is higher than the current skill level you are currently registered for.

What if a tournament converts to DUPR and I don’t have a DUPR rating?

The skill level you registered for using your PBR, WPR or self-rating will be maintained and provide a great starting point for your new DUPR rating.

Why do all participants in a match have to have connected the Pickleball.com account profile to DUPR in order for the match to be processed for DUPR ratings?

In order to use the DUPR API for automatic ratings processing, all participants in a match must have a DUPR ID. The only means we have to know your DUPR ID is for you to connect your Pickleball.com account profile to DUPR. To reduce the number of matches impacted by this, we will be working with TDs and league coordinators to encourage all participants in their events to connect their Pickleball.com account profile to DUPR and will also be conducting an extensive marketing campaign to promote connecting their account.

What are you doing to make sure that all players connect their Pickleball.com account profile to DUPR in order for all matches to be processed for DUPR ratings?

We will be doing the following:

  • Notifying a player every time they login to Pickleball.com, PickleballBrackets.com or PickleballTournaments.com on their screen that they need to complete the connection of their Pickleball.com account profile to DUPR.
  • Providing TDs with tools to identify players who haven’t connected their Pickleball.com account profile to DUPR so that they can remind them to do so before their tournament starts.
  • Regularly messaging players who haven’t connected their Pickleball.com account profile to DUPR to complete this process.
  • When a new tournament or league is created, we will require that their Pickleball.com account profile be connected to DUPR in order to complete their registration.

Why can’t my past matches completed on PickleballBrackets.com or PickleballTournaments.com be submitted for DUPR ratings processing?

At this point, only matches completed from July 29th, 2024 going forward will be sent to DUPR automatically for ratings processing. However, DUPR is able to upload past tournaments from pickleballbrackets.com by request of the director. Please reach out to the tournament director and ask them to fill out this form to get the tournament matches added to DUPR.

My DUPR doubles rating is higher than my mixed or gender doubles partner’s DUPR rating, so that may not allow us to play together at our usual skill level. How will we be able to play together going forward?

You and your partner will still be able to play together, it will just be at the skill level of the highest DUPR rating between the partners.

Does DUPR have a “Skinny Singles” rating?

DUPR does not have a Skinny Singles rating. For tournaments that want to offer this format and use a Skinny Singles rating, the PBR Skinny Singles rating will still be available for use.

What if I connect my DUPR account and then decide I want to disconnect it?

You will need to contact our support team for help disconnecting your DUPR profile once it is connected. Remember, you will not be able to register for tournaments or leagues without your DUPR profile being connected.

Can I personally upload matches to DUPR?

Yes, if you login to your DUPR account, you can upload matches directly to DUPR and the other players will be notified to verify the match results.
