8 team event: If we get full registration, there will be 2 pools of 4 teams (3 matches), followed by the top 2 teams in each pool entering a medal semi-final and final (2 matches) to determine top 4 finishers. Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Seeding order for playoffs: #1 - Total matches won; #2 - Head-to-head matches won (if 2 teams tied, who won); #3 - Point differential of all games played; #4 - Head-to-head point differential; #5 - Point differential against next-highest team
Rally scoring will be used (capped at 25) with UPDATED 2026 USAP Rules: USA Pickleball has updated rally scoring to eliminate the "freeze," allowing the receiving team to win a point and the game, regardless of who is serving. No More "Freeze" (Rule 14.a.2): A point is awarded on every rally, meaning if the score is 20-13 and the receiving team wins the rally, they win the match immediately, even if they were not serving. Positioning & Scoring: When a team wins a rally as the receiver, they gain a point and the serve (side out). The server for that new serving team is determined by who is on the right/even side.
Game Structure: Points are scored regardless of which team is serving and must be won with a 2-point margin (capped at the first to 25). A tie-breaker (Dreambreaker format) will occur in the event of a 2-2 tie. Games will be to 21, win by 2. One timeout per team per game, and on the end change. Change ends at 11. Teammates can change positions during end changes and time outs. Same time-out rules apply to tie-breakers, where each player plays 4 rally points then the next player rotates in (rotation may not change once the lineups are set).
Full rules and teams/pools will be emailed after the close of registration.
BALL – We will use Selkirk Pro S1 balls.
