Welcome to the AER Summer Showcase.

You don’t have to drive to the big cities to find a premium, high-quality tournament experience. Whether you are a 3.0 player looking for a fun community weekend and a killer goodie bag, or a 4.5+ assassin looking to win cash and get scouted for the AER traveling amateur team, we have built this weekend for you.

THE AER PLAYER EXPERIENCE

Your registration fee covers your tournament entry and the following showcase perks:

THE GOODIE BAG: Every registered player receives a Pickleball Central bag loaded with a rotating selection of items from sponsors like Selkirk, Joola, Jigsaw, Franklin, OS1st, and more. (Note: Bags vary and are not guaranteed to contain every sponsor).

THE ROAD TO SAN DIEGO: At the end of the weekend, 2 lucky players will win a trip to hang out with the AER Crew at the National Championships in San Diego! Just by registering and playing, you are automatically entered into the drawing.

DUPR RATING: We are an officially DUPR-rated event. Please ensure your DUPR account is linked to your Pickleball Tournaments account to guarantee your matches count toward your official DUPR rating.

PARTICIPATION PRIZES: Just for stepping on the court, you are entered to win raffle prizes and premium gear giveaways from our amazing sponsors.

ONSITE AMENITIES: We are bringing the festival vibes. We ensure our players have a comfortable, well-organized environment with music, vendor tents, and food/refreshments available onsite to keep you fueled between matches.

Check-In & Start Times

*You will get a notice of your start times a couple of days prior

Early Birds: Check-in opens at 7:15 AM.

First Serve: First matches of the day start promptly at 8:00 AM.

Be Ready: You must be on-site and ready to play at least 30 minutes before your scheduled match.

Match Format & Rules

Officiating: Self-officiated for pool play; Referees assigned for Moneyball Gold matches.

Rules: Strictly following the official USA Pickleball Rulebook.

Seeding: Brackets and start times will be released 2–3 days before the event.

Equipment & Venue

Balls: Tournament balls provided (Franklin X-40).

Paddles: Bring your own (Must be USAP or UPA-A approved).

Fuel: Food and drinks will be available for purchase on-site.

Parking: Plenty of free parking available at the venue.

Ratings & Requirements (The "No Sandbagging" Rule)

DUPR: All scores will be reported. You must register at your verified rating.

Teams: You must play at the level of the highest-rated partner. The lower-rated partner may only be .5 under the highest rated player. Example: In a 4.0 doubles match, one player must be at least 4.0 and the partner can not have a DUPR rating lower than 3.5.

Registration Requirement: While this is a non-sanctioned event, all players must have an active DUPR account linked to their Pickleball Tournaments profile to ensure match results are accurately captured.

Refund Policy

Inclement Weather Policy

We are an outdoor event and are committed to doing everything possible to complete all matches. In the event of rain, we will make every effort to dry courts and resume play. If weather prevents the completion of the tournament, the following policy applies:

Cancellation Before 8:00 AM on Match Day: If the tournament is cancelled before the day’s play begins, all registered players will receive a full refund of their registration fee (minus processing fees).

Tournament Disruption (Once Play Begins): If play begins but is halted, we will make every attempt to resume. If the tournament cannot continue due to persistent weather, we will offer a pro-rated credit for future AER tournaments based on the percentage of brackets completed, rather than a cash refund.

Weather & Registration Protection: We highly recommend purchasing the optional $15 Weather & Registration Protection at checkout. This ensures you are covered for last-minute cancellations, injuries, or emergencies, providing peace of mind regardless of the forecast. Finality: No refunds will be issued for no-shows or same-day withdrawals unrelated to tournament-wide weather cancellations.

The AER Summer Showcase features a massive $10,000 cash purse distributed throughout the weekend to our top-tier competitors.

Moneyball Divisions (Men’s Singles 4.0+, Doubles 4.5+, Mixed Doubles 4.5+): Players will compete for their share of the $10,000 cash purse.

Amateur & Age-Protected Divisions (3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 49 & Under, 50+): Winners will receive official event medals, bragging rights, and special recognition on the AER podium.

BONUS GIVEAWAYS

Gold Medal Qualification: Gold Medal winners earn qualification toward the 2027 AER Spring Open Moneyball.

General Weather Policy

Outdoor Event Protocol

This is an outdoor event. In the event of rain, lightning, unsafe court conditions, or other severe weather, AER Pickleball reserves the right to delay matches, adjust formats, reduce match lengths, combine divisions, or modify scheduling as necessary to safely complete tournament play.

Pre-Event Weather Cancellation

If tournament play is cancelled due to severe weather before matches officially begin at 8:00 AM on your scheduled match day, all registered players will receive a full refund of their registration fees (minus non-refundable platform and processing fees).

Tournament Start & Weather Interruptions

Once tournament play has officially begun at 8:00 AM on your scheduled match day, no refunds or credits will be issued for weather-related interruptions, unless you have purchased the optional $15 Weather & Registration Protection at checkout. For those who purchase this protection, you are guaranteed a full refund (minus non-refundable platform and processing fees) if the tournament is cancelled before you complete your first match, regardless of the reason for cancellation. For all other players, AER Pickleball will make every reasonable effort to complete scheduled divisions whenever safely possible by adjusting formats or waiting out delays.

Communications

Weather updates, schedule changes, delays, and court information will be communicated through the tournament page, email notifications, and text alerts when available. Players are strictly responsible for ensuring their registration contact information is current and accurate.

Health & Safety

1. Hydration & Heat Safety (The Alabama Summer)

The Alabama sun is intense, and the health and safety of our players and spectators is our #1 priority.

Stay Cool: All players are strongly encouraged to bring personal water bottles and high-SPF sun protection.

AER Support: We will provide on-site hydration stations, designated cooling areas, and complimentary cooling towels to help players manage the heat between matches.

2. Injury & Medical Assistance

First Aid: Basic first aid supplies will be available at the tournament desk.

Emergencies: In the event of a medical emergency, on-site staff will facilitate immediate assistance and 911 will be dispatched.

3. Weather-Related Risks

Safety First: Tournament staff reserves the right to delay, suspend, or modify match formats due to extreme heat, lightning, or other unsafe weather conditions. Player safety will always dictate the pace of play.

4. Personal Responsibility & Waivers

Pickleball is a physical sport. By registering, you acknowledge the following:

Play at Your Own Risk: Participants accept full responsibility for any injury sustained during the event.

Illness: If you are experiencing symptoms of a fever, the flu, or any communicable illness, please stay home. We reserve the right to deny participation to anyone displaying signs of illness for the safety of our community.

Liability: All registrants must accept the standard tournament liability waiver during the registration process.
