This skill/age tournament will play all events in a round robin format with playoffs. Some referees may be used for pre-medal matches and for the Gold/Silver/Bronze Medal rounds.
AGE BRACKETS WILL BE BROKEN DOWN BASED ON ENTRIES:
Additional age brackets may be added based on registrations. Divisions may need to be combined within skill and age groups. Examples: 3.0/3.5, 4.0/4.5.
All gold medal matches will be offered as best 2 out of 3 games to 11, win by 2, unless the Tournament Director needs to make a change due to weather, time, or other tournament-related issues. A 1-game to 15, win by 2 format may be used as an alternative on a case-by-case basis.
3 teams:
A double round robin will be played, 1 game to 15, win by 2, switching ends at 8. All teams will advance to playoffs. The top team based on results will receive a bye. The 2nd and 3rd place teams will play the Bronze match, 1 game to 15, win by 2. The winner will advance to play the Gold match against the team that received the bye.
4 to 9 teams:
Format will be pool-dependent. Games may be either 1 game to 11, win by 2, switching ends at 6, or 1 game to 15, win by 2, switching ends at 8. The top four teams will move forward to playoffs. The top winners from each pool will play each other for Gold, best 2 out of 3 games to 11, win by 2, switching ends only at 6 in the third game. Both second-place winners will play for Bronze, 1 game to 15, win by 2, switching ends at 8.
10 or more teams:
Teams will be split into pools. Match format will depend on the number of teams. Games may be either 1 game to 11, win by 2, switching ends at 6, or 1 game to 15, win by 2, switching ends at 8. Only the top two teams from each pool will move forward. The top team from each pool will play for Gold, best 2 out of 3 games to 11, win by 2, switching ends only at 6 in the third game. Both second-place teams will play for Bronze, 1 game to 15, win by 2, switching ends at 8.
The Tournament Director reserves the right to combine or split events, change playoff formats, close events when courts are at capacity even if an event is not full, and adjust formats based on enrollment.
