Tournament Description

Welcome to the Annual DUPR - Hocus Pocus - South Suburban Pickleball Tournament, sponsored by Freddy's!

We invite you to celebrate the end of the outdoor season by competing in South Suburban’s third premier pickleball event of the year. This tournament is officially connected to DUPR, ensuring all matches are logged toward your global rating!

Event Schedule & Logistics

• Dates: Saturday, October 10th and Sunday, October 11th.

• Daily Lineup: Men's and Women's Doubles will compete on Saturday. Mixed Doubles will compete on Sunday.

• Early Starts: Contingent upon registration volume and weather conditions, select matches may commence the preceding Friday evening.

• Brackets & Scheduling: Complete scheduling details are accessible via the "Start Times" link above.

Official draws will be published on Wednesday afternoon, with live brackets populating on the day of play.

Registration Details

Due to venue capacity limits, field sizes are strictly capped. Early registration is highly encouraged to guarantee your bracket placement.

Competitive Divisions

• Men's Doubles & Men's 50+ Doubles: (2.0 - 4.5+)

• Women's Doubles & Women's 50+ Doubles: (2.0 - 4.5+)

• Mixed Doubles & Mixed 50+ Doubles: (2.0 - 4.5+)

Court & Ball Specifications

Tournament Courts: The event features 10 outdoor courts dedicated to tournament play.

Official Ball: The Franklin X-40 is the official tournament ball.

- Alternative Option: "Life Time" balls may be utilized for match play only if there is unanimous agreement across the entire division.

Amenities & Spectator Information

- We highly encourage spectators to attend and support the competing players and teams! The venue offers excellent accommodations for guests, including:

- Shade structures to protect against heat.

- Ample viewing areas for gathering and spectating.

- On-site restrooms and a water fountain located directly by the facility.

Refund Policy

Registration & Refund Policies

Individual Registration Requirement:

- All participants must register individually; team registrations are not permitted. Every player must create and fully set up a Pickleball Brackets account prior to finalizing their registration.

Partner Registration Deadline:

- Players must ensure their chosen partner is fully registered and paid within the system before the registration window closes. If your partner has not completed their paid registration by the deadline, you will be removed from the event and issued a refund less the non-refundable Pickleball Brackets service fee.

Cancellation & Refund Terms:

- Before Registration Closes: Cancellations requested prior to the registration deadline will receive a refund, minus the non-refundable Pickleball Brackets service fee.

- After Registration Closes: No refunds will be issued for ANY reason once registration has closed.

Inclement Weather Policy:

- In the event that inclement weather forces the cancellation of the tournament, full refunds will be processed for all registered participants.

Health & Safety

Health, Safety, & Injury Prevention Guidelines To ensure a safe and competitive environment for all participants, South Suburban strictly enforces the following health and safety protocols. Players are expected to take personal responsibility for their physical readiness and on-court conduct.

- Mandatory Footwear & Equipment

- Court-Specific Shoes Required: All players must wear proper athletic court shoes or tennis shoes designed for lateral movement. Running shoes, cross-trainers, and casual sneakers are strictly prohibited, as they lack the side-to-side stability required and significantly increase the risk of ankle sprains.

- Eye Protection: The use of protective sports eyewear is highly recommended to prevent impact injuries from high-velocity balls.

Physical Readiness & Injury Prevention

Pre-Match Warm-Up:

- Players should arrive early enough to dedicate 5 to 10 minutes to a dynamic warm-up. Activating muscles and moving joints through their full range of motion drastically reduces the likelihood of acute strains and sprains.

- Hydration & Heat Safety: Playing outdoors accelerates fluid loss. Participants must hydrate consistently before, during, and after their matches. It is strongly recommended to supplement water intake with electrolytes to prevent dizziness, cramping, and heat exhaustion.

- Utilize the venue's shade structures and water fountains during rest periods.
