Tournament Description
The Kelowna Open 2025 Pickleball Tournament is a fun, social, competitive experience.
There are opportunities for players to volunteer and experience working at the tournament desk, tournament operations and refereeing.
This will be a SANCTIONED event, and results will affect your Canadian Tournament Pickleball Rating (CTPR) AND your DUPR rating. Your CTPR rating will be used to determine qualification for events.
**2025 UPDATE Due to the reconstruction of the Parkinson Recreation Centre, the temporary courts on the tennis side are NOT available and as such we are reduced from 24 courts to 12 permanent courts. This means the events will take place over FOUR days vs three days in previous years and there will be NO singles events.**
If a paddle does NOT appear on the USA P Approved Paddle list, it is by definition NOT APPROVED, and will NOT be accepted at this Sanctioned Tournament. Check your paddle here ---> https://equipment.usapickleball.org/
Format:
Double elimination.
'A' side best two out of three games to 11, win by 2.
'B' side one game to 15, win by 2.
This tournament has AGE brackets and SKILL brackets for mixed doubles, mens doubles, and womens doubles.
Teams may play UP a level in SKILL. Players may not play down a skill level. For example, a team with players rated at 3.5 may play up into the 4.0 skill bracket.
Players may play DOWN in AGE brackets, but may not play up. For example, a team has a 35 year old player and a 62 year old player - the team will need to enter the Any Age bracket vs the 60+.
Players may enter one Doubles event, and one Mixed event. Senior players may only play in one event - "Doubles 60+" or "Doubles Any Age", and not both. Same for one event of "Mixed 60+" or "Mixed Any Age", not both, as they occur on different days.
Brackets may be further sub-divided by age groups, and brackets may be merged based on actual registrations.
Players have 3 days for both partners to register and pay. Incomplete registrations will be moved to the waitlist after 3 days.
