he 16th Annual Royal Oak Classic is one of the longest-running pickleball tournaments in Southeast Michigan, continuing a strong tradition of competitive and community-driven play.
Owned and operated by SMPA, this year’s event is proudly partnered with Bash Pickleball Club—the largest indoor pickleball facility in Michigan—to elevate the tournament experience to a new level.
The event is expected to draw 500+ players over three full days of competition, running from 8:00 AM Friday through late Sunday, offering a full weekend of high-level play.

Friday, August 28: Singles & Gender Doubles (60+)
Saturday, August 29: Gender Doubles (50+ & 49 and under)
Sunday, August 30: Mixed Doubles (All Divisions)
Format
Pool Play with Playoffs
Minimum 3 games guaranteed per team
Goal of 4+ games per team whenever possible
Top teams from each pool advance to a single-elimination playoff bracket
Bronze Medal Match: 1 game to 15, win by 2
Gold Medal Match: Best 2 out of 3 games to 11, win by 2
Brackets may be adjusted based on registration to ensure competitive balance and efficient scheduling

Registration Policies
Teams are considered fully registered when both players are signed up and paid
If only one player registers, their partner has 3 days to complete registration
If the partner does not register within 3 days, the team will be moved to the waitlist
Teams not fully registered will remain on the waitlist until completed

Brackets may start as early as 8:00 AM and as late as 7:00 PM
All brackets and playoff formats are subject to change based on registration, court availability, and tournament conditions
Matches impacted by withdrawals, no-shows, or forfeits will still count as completed matches
