This Tier II sanctioned tournament will follow all IFP rules and Alberta Health Services COVID rules should there still be any in place.
Hosted by the Medicine Hat Pickleball Club at the South Country Co-op Courts in Medicine Hat, Alberta, the tournament will take place on July 8th to 10th, with July 7th being a warm-up day and July 11th being reserved for a rain-out day.
All registrants must be members of Pickleball Alberta and Pickleball Canada.
The 2022 Pickleball Alberta Provincial Championships is that it will be a closed event to all Alberta residents so as to crown the best-of-the-best players in Alberta at all levels of play.
This event is limited to Alberta residents only and proof of residency will be required at check in. Any one of these are acceptable documents to prove residency:
- Alberta Birth Certificate
- Valid Alberta Drivers License
- Valid Alberta Health Care Card
- Alberta Identification Card
Medal winners from the 2021 Pickleball Alberta Provincials and Pickleball Canada National Championships will be emailed an invitation for advance registration. These individuals must meet all eligibility requirements as listed above in order to register. Pre-registration will open at 8:00 a.m. on March 23rd MST and will close at 8:00 p.m. on March 25th MST. General tournament registration opens to all players on March 26th at 8:00 a.m. MST.
The Pickleball Alberta Provincial Championships will be skill based (3.0 and under, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, and Open) and ages (18 and under, 19-34, 35-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 plus) and be held outdoors on the newly developed 20-court facility. The South Country Co-op Courts are located at the Big Marble Go Centre. The tournament ball will be the neon Dura-fast 40.
Please note that one team member must of the age and/or skill in the bracket you are registering in.
July 8th - Women's Doubles and Men's Singles
July 9th - Mixed Doubles
July 10th - Men's Doubles and Women's Singles
The registration fee of $75.00 will include one event. All other events are $15.00 each and players can enter a maximum of three events (one doubles, one mixed and one singles).
Registration will be considered complete when both players are registered, and payment is made. If payment is not made in eight days, you will be moved to the wait list.
The tournament format will be double elimination with each match being the best 2 out of 3 games to 11 win by 2 on the "A" side of the draw. On the "B" side, matches will be one game to 15 win by 2. Brackets with four teams will play a round robin format. Players will be guaranteed 3 games. It will be at the discretion of the tournament director to combine brackets.
Medals will be awarded to the top three teams in each (combined) bracket.
