The 2024 Medicine Hat Pickleball Club “Open” Tournament is open to all players 16 years of age and older. All registrants must be members of Pickleball Canada.
Registration will open on Wednesday April 3rd at 7:00 p.m. MST and will close at on June 1st, 2024 at 12 midnight MST.
This tournament will be skill based (3.0 and under, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, and Open) and ages (13-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 plus). Should both players choose to, they may play up ONLY a 0.5 rating level from their current CTPR. The only exception is for the Open events, where all players must have a minimum 4.5 CTPR rating to play in that event. This tournament has a 4.0, 4.5 and Open event, and a 4.0 player can play up into the 4.5 event but not into the Open event. Open events are for 4.5 and above skill level players only. Both players can play down in age. The Tournament Director will ensure this policy is adhered to.
The registration fee is $60.00 with each event $15.00. Players can enter a maximum of three events (one doubles, one mixed and one singles). PB Brackets fees are responsability of the player.
Registration will be considered complete when both players are registered, and payment is made in FULL. If payment is not made in eight days, they will be moved to the wait list.
The tournament format will be double elimination with each match being the best 2 of 3 games to 11 win by 2 on the "A" side of the draw. On the "B" side, matches will be one game to 15 win by 2. Brackets with five teams will play a round robin format. Players will be guaranteed 3 games.
It will be at the discretion of the tournament director to combine brackets and determine final format.
All play will be outdoors on 20 courts. The South Country Co-op Courts are located at the Big Marble Go Centre, 2000 Division Ave NW, Medicine Hat. The tournament ball is a neon yellow Franklin 40-X.
Medals will be awarded to the top three teams in each (combined) bracket.
