The Mercer Island Rotary Club’s Inaugural Pickleball Tournament will highlight eight NEW pickleball courts at Mercer Island’s Luther Burbank Park. This round robin tournament will raise funds to support youth mental health and well-being, with 25% of net proceeds going to The Scooty Fund (https://scootyfund.org). The Scooty Fund is a nonprofit organization started by Kasey Taylor and Tara Neilson (MIHS class of 2011) in honor of Will Taylor (MIHS class of 2013) to promote emotional awareness, education and resources for young adults. The balance of the funds raised will be used to support cancer research, housing & food security, clean water, and other meaningful causes. Rotary’s motto is “Service Above Self” and we hope you join us in christening the new pickleball courts while raising money to improve lives here and abroad.
Round Robin format (skill/age) WITH playoffs for Gold/Silver/Bronze for skills 3.0-4.5+. Age brackets will be determined following the close of registration, but will strive to be close to under 50 & 50+ events.
***Ratings:
• Even though DUPR is the only rating listed for public view, we are using DUPR only as a guideline. All rating systems have their pros and cons. Players will self-rate
• Please update your self-rating in your software profile before you register. You may only play up .5 from your self-rating
• If you feel that a player is playing out of their skill, please contact the tournament director using the "contact tourney" button. We will then evaluate tournament history and various ratings (including DUPR) to determine if a player/team needs to play at a different skill. Please be aware that this is a manual process and does not happen automatically
