The tournament will held at Southern Tasmanian Netball Association Centre, Corner Creek Rd &, Main Rd, New Town Tas 7008, which has indoor and outdoor courts. Depending on numbers we will schedule as many other events as possible indoors to minimise the possible disruptions due to the weather. IF it rains (or is too hot) we can accommodate delayed matches indoors, or alternatively there is another indoor stadium close by. February is a dry month in Hobart, much less rain than coastal NSW or QLD, so hopefully this won't be an issue.
All events will have qualifying games in round robin format and then semis and finals.
Games will be to 15 points win by 2 in round-robin events with up to 5 players/teams, and up to 11 points win by 2 in round-robin events with 6 or more players/teams.
2 players/teams from each pool will progress to finals.
Semi finals will be 1 game to 15 win by 2.
Medal matches will be best of 3 games to 11 win by 2.
PLEASE NOTE:
This tournament will utilize DUPR to determine eligible skill brackets.
Skill Levels: For Doubles, you must sign up at the skill level of the higher-rated partner.
All players will be guaranteed a minimum of 3 games per event.
X40 Franklin balls will be used for indoor and outdoor courts.

DIRECTOR'S DISCRETION
The tournament director reserves the right to:
- review, and possibly alter the rating of players who self-rate below or above their actual ability.
- move players and teams between skill level brackets if on verification the wrong event has been entered.
- change start times to facilitate smooth running of the tournament
- The tournament director reserves the right to modify the events and/or schedule as needed pending influences beyond our control (ie. Fire drill, weather etc).
The tournament director will merge or split events based on event registration.
Events with less than 4 players/teams will be merged with another event at the discretion of the TD.
The process for the merging of events is:
> Merge within skill level first
>Merge within age group second, if option 1 is not a viable option.
All players affected by a merge, will be notified by email.
WAITLIST:
Singles: players will automatically be allocated a position in the main draw, UNLESS an event is at capacity.
Doubles: players will automatically be allocated a position in the main draw, UNLESS the event is at capacity. If you enter before the event is at capacity, you have 7 days to secure a partner and have your partner also enter the tournament. After 7 days if your partner fails to enter or you do not secure a partner, you will be moved to the waitlist.
Teams who have both players enter the event, will be prioiritised over a player who fails to secure a partner and these teams will be moved to the main draw first.
It is the responsibility of the participant to source a partner and have them enter to secure the teams position.
PLAYER RATINGS
If you already have a DUPR rating, this is the official Pickleball Australia
sanctioned rating system that will be used.
If you have not entered a tournament before, and do not have a DUPR rating
you will need to self-rate.
PLEASE NOTE: The 2.0-2.49 bracket is for players who are still developing basic skills and not
for those wanting an easy win. The skill level covers the ability to:
- Sustain a short rally with players of equal ability.
- Demonstrate the basic shot strokes forehand, backhand, volley, overhead and the
serve, but with obvious weaknesses in most strokes and lacks consistency.
- Familiar with court positioning in doubles play.
Hybrid (pairing a player with a disability with a player without a disability): Maximum combined rating of 6.0. The idea of this event is to have as evenly matched teams as possible. If you don’t have a playing partner, we will find an appropriately skilled player to partner you. Enter yourself, and tick “partner required” in this event.
Don’t hesitate to ask tournament directors and Pickleball Tasmania committee members for
advice on entry level.
REFEREES
We will provide referees for the gold medal matches.
