New Year, New You!
When you step onto the court for the Mental Health Matters to ME Pickleball Tournament, you’re doing more than playing a game— you’re becoming part of something bigger.
This 2nd Annual event is in memory of Derek Ramsay, who lost his life to mental illness and substance use disorder. Derek’s story is one of love and loss, but also of resilience, hope, and the power of community.
By registering, you’re helping to ensure that no one in Maine faces their mental health struggles alone. Every serve, every rally, every laugh shared on the court sends a powerful message: mental health IS health, and together, we can break the silence and stigma.
Your participation supports NAMI Maine’s vital work—free support groups, education for families, youth programs, crisis resources, Mental Health First Aid trainings, and so much more. These programs change lives every day, just as this tournament is changing the way we come together around mental health.
Your participation also supports Shalom House, located in Portland, Maine. Shalom House gives adults living with mental illness more than just housing—it offers dignity, hope, and a place to heal. This tournament will support Shalom House’s Art Program, where creativity builds confidence and connection, and the Client Basic Needs Fund, which ensures no one goes without essentials like food, clothing, or transportation. Together, we’re turning care into opportunity and lifting lives across Maine.
This isn’t just about pickleball. It’s about honoring Derek’s memory, lifting up families across our state, and creating a ripple of awareness and compassion that goes far beyond the court.
Join us. Play with purpose. Stand with us in memory of Derek and in support of every person who deserves hope, healing, and connection.
Because when we come together, we don’t just play—we change lives.
