🏗️ League Structure
Del Boca Vista Pickleball is a team-based league inspired by the format of Major League Pickleball — with a retro Miami twist. Here’s how it all works:
👥 Team Composition
Each team may have up to 6 players: 3 men and 3 women
A league will be viable if four or more teams sign up, with a maximum of eight per division.
🗓️ Season & Match Details
Season Timeline:
Each season runs 6–8 weeks, followed by playoffs for the top teams. Specific dates are shared at the start of the season.
Weekly Matches:
Teams play 1 match per week. Depending on the number of teams, you may have:
A bye week
A doubleheader
Or you may face a team more than once—or not at all
Match Format:
Each match includes 1 Men’s Doubles, 1 Women’s Doubles, and 4 Mixed Doubles games — all using rally scoring to 21 (win by 2).
If a match is tied 3–3, we go to a DreamBreaker tiebreaker (skinny singles or doubles depending on the division).
Start Times:
Your match start time may vary each week based on court availability, but we aim for consistency. Match times are posted in advance.
Weather Delays:
If weather interferes, we ask teams to reschedule their match within one week. We may build in buffer weeks for flexibility. If a match begins but is interrupted, games that reached at least 11 points may count.
📝 How Teams Are Placed
Captains select their preferred division during registration
The DBV team will verify DUPR ratings for eligibility
Teams will be moved to the appropriate division if their top 4 players exceed a division cap
🤝 Free Agents
Don’t have a team? No problem.
Sign up as a Free Agent, and we’ll place you on a team based on your DUPR rating and availability.
🧑🤝🧑 Substitutes Policy
Teams may register substitute players at the start of the season, and those subs will be eligible to fill in for any match.
If a team needs a sub who is not registered, they may bring in an alternate player under the following conditions:
The sub’s DUPR rating must be equal to or lower than the second-highest-rated player on the roster
The sub must not cause the team to exceed the division’s Max Team DUPR cap
Team captains must notify the opponent at least 24 hours before the match with the sub’s name and DUPR ID
All substitute players must be approved before participating. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in a match forfeiture.
📆 Season Timeline
Each season runs for 6–8 weeks
Teams play weekly matches
Top four teams advance to playoffs
Playoffs feature medals, referees, and the pink DreamBreaker ball
The season ends with championship matches and your team’s name on the fence (literally)
🧑⚖️ Code of Conduct:
All players are expected to uphold good sportsmanship, respect for opponents, and adherence to league rules. Any violations may result in penalties or removal from the league.
