Description
July 27, 2024 update:
The date for refunds has passed, withdrawals will no longer receive a refund.
When participants must withdraw from the tournament they can do so via Pickleball Brackets by clicking 'Contact Tourney' from the tournament page. If only one partner is withdrawing, the other player who wishes to remain in the tournament can request a partner who has already registered by looking up 'Players Needing a Partner'. If no alternative partner is available, then that player will be put on the 'Needing a Partner' list.

This tournament is open to residents of BC, Canada who are at least 55 years in age by December 31, 2024. This is NOT a free event. Payments are made through the BCSGS (not Pickleball Brackets).
Pickleball in the 55+ BC Games is a four day Round Robin competition featuring men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.
REQUIREMENTS TO PARTICIPATE
Pickleball Brackets account profile (free)
55+ Registration fee ($85) Plus Annual Membership BCSGS fee ($20)
55+ Sport fee ($20)
Players may participate in up to three events included in the fees mentioned above. (Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles).
REGISTRATION
Step 1: Register here on Pickleball Brackets to ensure your bracket is available.
Step 2: Also register on the 55+ BC Games website https://55plusbcgames.org/sports/pickleball.
Registration is considered complete when BOTH steps are completed (Pickleball Brackets AND 55+ BC Games form). Incomplete registrations will be moved to the wait list.
Participants will not be considered registered in the Games until they have registered with Pickleball Brackets as well as completing the form with the BC Seniors Games Society. All pickleball participants require their Pickleball Brackets account number to complete the form at https://55plusbcgames.org/sports/pickleball.
FEE PAYMENT
Your Zone representative will contact you with instructions on the options for paying fees OR check your Zone webpage on the website for instructions on how and where to submit payment at www.55plusbcgames.org.
Once your fees have been received by your Zone and your registration has been processed, you will receive an official confirmation email.

Saturday September 14: Womens Singles, Mens Singles
AGE SPLITS
Men 55+, 65+, 75+
Women 55+, 65+, 75+
At the the time of registration there will be three age groups (55+, 65+, 75+). When registration closes the players may be broken into age groups different than above based on the actual age of teams signed up. The tournament committee will ensure any updates are as close to the predetermined age splits as possible. The committee will determine if the groups will be split into 5 teams, or 10 teams with 2 pools, depending on the ages of registered players.
Older players may play down an age bracket.
Younger players will not be able to play up an age bracket.
SKILL BRACKETS
Mens Doubles, Womens Doubles, Mixed Doubles: 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 and Above
Mens Singles, Womens Singles: 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 and Above
Brackets may be combined based on actual registration. If a higher skill level does not have 5 teams or a multiple of five teams and the next lower skill level has a wait list, then the highest rated team in the lower skill level will be asked if they wish to play up and a team from the wait list will be incorporated into the lower skill level.
Lower skill players may play UP a skill bracket.
Higher skill players may not play DOWN a skill bracket
(BCSGS Rule #3 where 75+ aged players may play down in age AND skill does not apply for the 2024 Games)
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
Round Robin in pools - 1 game to 11, win by 2, cap at 15.
1 bracket of 5:
Top 4 teams progress to semi finals - 1 game to 15, win by 2, no cap
* Bronze medal game (3rd and 4th seed)- 1 game to 15, win by 2, no cap
* Gold Medal Game (1st and 2nd seed) - best 2 out 3 to 11, win by 2, no cap
1 bracket of 10 (2 pools):
Top 2 teams from each pool progress to semi finals - 1 game to 15, win by 2, no cap
* Bronze medal game (3rd and 4th seed)- 1 game to 15, win by 2, no cap
* Gold Medal Game (1st and 2nd seed) - best 2 out 3 to 11, win by 2, no cap
Every effort will be made to ensure each team will play at least 4 matches. Team withdrawals may impact bracket configurations. The tournament committee may adjust semi final and/or medal game formats based on weather delays or time constraints.
Games take place on 14 courts: 6 dedicated pickleball courts, and 8 temporary courts.

Additional Information
Results will NOT affect your Pickleball Brackets rating, but WILL be used to determine eligibility.
Ratings used: Pickleball Brackets, or Self rating.
Medal matches will be refereed.
