The Athens Area Association of Realtors is hosting its first annual Paddle Battle on June 1, 2024. It is a community wide event to be held on Saturday, June 1 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at Jennings Mill. Proceeds will go to Lydia's Place, Mercy Health Center, and Divas Who Win. All registered players will receive complimentary snacks and either a breakfast biscuit or a BBQ lunch. A limited supply of water and gatorade will also be available.
So grab a partner and sign up for doubles and mixed doubles. Order of play is as follows:
3.0 Men's Doubles and 2.5/3.0 Women's Doubles will play at 9:00.
All Mixed Doubles will play at 12:00.
3.5/4.0/4.5 Mens' Doubles and Women's Doubles will play at 2:30.
All players who register by May 17 will receive a T-shirt and medals will be awarded to each bracket's winners.
When registering, you must identify your partner OR request "Need a Partner". If you need a partner, click on "Players Needing a Partner" link on the registration page. You will be provided with contact information for a list of other players needing a partner within the bracket you wish to play. Your spot in the tournament is not guaranteed until both you and your partner have registered, and all fees have been paid in full.
Ratings: If you have a Pickleballbrackets.com rating or DUPR rating, you should register using this rating. If you don't have a rating, use a self-rating. A team must play at the skill level of the higher rated player.
As registration proceeds, tournament management reserves the right to merge brackets based on numbers or break too large brackets into pools. Each bracket will play a Round Robin format meaning your team will play one match against every other team in the same bracket. Each match will be one game to 11, win by 2 with 15 minute time limit for each game. If there is a tie at the end of 15 minutes, then the last serving team plays one additional point and the winner of that point wins the game.
After round robin is played for each bracket, the four teams with the most number of wins will move on to a playoff round in which the first and second top scoring teams will play one game to determine gold and silver medal status and the third and fourth top scoring teams will play to determine who wins the bronze medal.
Competition may begin as early as 8:30 and may end as late as 6:30. Specific start time for each event will be posted and emailed to players approximately 2 days before the event.
