Description
Welcome to Battle of The Paddles 3 (BOTP3). A tourney hosted by Pickleball Compete - VR Complete Pickleball.
Please Read the Health & Safety section below. Thank you.
UPDATED 02/04/2024
What is the Battle Of The Paddles (BOTP)?
The Pickleball tournaments of the year. Three time BOTP cumulative gold medal winners (as a team in team events) and singles in singles events get prize money. After the 3rd time gold medal win in a particular event, they would have to move up to a higher skill level to win another 3 cumulative win prize. At 4.0+ events, they can win as many cumulative wins as possible, but must be only at that level, not a lower merged event (if that applies).
The BlackHATs (specific singles event gold medalists) take home the BlackHAT and have their names stamped on the records of battles won on the court.

SKINNY SINGLES FORMAT | BOTP3 EVENT MERGE (Below)
* Combination of Down-the-line and Cross-court. Each player receives or serves based on their points. Example: The game starts at 0:0, both players are cross-court (on right/even sides) and play out that point from serve cross-court only; if the server gets a point, only the server moves to the left/odd side and serves down-the-line to the opponent, who is still on the right/even side of the court, and that point is played from the serve to the end of the point down-the-line only, and so on, every other rule stays the same).
ROUND ROBIN FORMAT
* Events with more than 5 teams will be arranged by pools. Example: if there are 6 teams, they will be split into 2 pools; the top 2 teams from each pool will continue to the medal rounds (Medal Round format will be based on Tournament Director's decision) - additional pools may be added as required.
* You play each team in your pool (if implemented), 1 game to 11 points, win by 2.
* Top 2 teams from each pool (if implemented) will be determined by the IFP standard - Total matches won | First tie-breaker: head-to-head matches won | Second tie-breaker: point differential of all games played | Third tie-breaker: head-to-head point differential | Fourth tie-breaker: point differential against next-highest team. (e.g., If the teams are tied for second, use point differentials against the first-place team.)
* Tournament Director has the right to make changes to any format
* Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams.
* Initial round(s) of playoffs will be one game to 11, win by 2.
* Bronze medal matches will be one game to 11, win by 2.
* Gold/Silver medal matches for 2.5 level events will be one game to 11, win by 2
* Gold/Silver medal matches for 3.5+ level events will be one game to 15, win by 2.

BOTP EVENTS MERGING
(Processing Platform: Pickleball Brackets)
PLEASE READ!!
Due to the ranging skill levels in some events, these events will be broken up into two events. The description below explains what format this will take.
Note: The mergers and medal awards in BOTP will only pertain to Lower Skill Mergers (The higher skill level(s) playing down) and will take effect after registration closes.
For an event NOT TO BE MERGED, there must be at least 3 teams signed up for it. In a scenario where less than 3 teams are signed up, they will be MERGED to the next bracket lower or higher (.5 skill range) based on that team or Tournament Director's prerogative.
For Lower Skill Merge (example 3.0 skill merging with 2.5 skill event), whatever medal they win will be the ONLY medal they RECEIVE for both the merge and the initial bracket they signed up for, irrespective of what is stated on the processing platform; on the other hand, if they do not win any medal in the Lower Skill Merge, they will not get any medals, irrespective of what is stated on the processing platform.
For Higher Skill Merge (example 3.5 skill merging with 4.0 skill event), the team gets medals in that merge if they win, based on their initial signed up bracket as stated on the processing platform; that is. the highest 3.5 team in this scenario - even if they do not win a medal in this higher merge, will get the Gold medal for the 3.5 bracket they initially signed up for.
Please reach out to us if you have any questions at admin@pickleballcompete.com or call (470) 781 4166.

Refund Policy
