Welcome to the Britannia Yacht Club Pickleball Open, being held on Saturday, September 4, and Sunday, September 5, 2021 (Labour Day holiday weekend), with a members only event on Friday, September 3. It is situated overlooking the beautiful Ottawa River and is a short drive from Britannia Beach (for those looking for a refreshing swim before/after pickleball events). You can also swim at the front of the club behind a breakwater in a protected swimming area.

OFFICIAL GAME BALLS:

3.0 events: Onix

3.5, 4.0, and 4.5 events: Dura Fast 40

There are two recently painted dedicated pickleball courts (pickleball paint, no tennis paint), and six additional pickleball courts available for the tournament (on tennis courts)

MAIN EVENTS

"Main" events (where you register with your partner) will be held at the 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5 skill levels, with a minimum of 4 entries per event, with no age brackets/categories.

Each participant in the main events is guaranteed a minimum of 3 round robin games to 15 points (win by 2) per event. Approximately 40-50% of teams will make the playoff round. Pre-medal round matches will be will be 1 game to 15 points (win by 2), while medal matches will be best 2/3 games to 11, win by 2.

Referees cannot be guaranteed for medal matches, but the hope is we have enough trained referee volunteers willing to volunteer for all gold medal matches, and hopefully, bronze medal matches as well.

SOCIAL MIXER EVENTS

There will also be "social mixer" events (at the 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0/4.5) skill levels, where participants will be randomly assigned partners and opponents for each round robin match. For the 4.0/4.5 social mixer, 4.0 and 4.5 players are welcome to participate. Minimum 4 round-robin matches to 15 points. The top men and top women will make the playoffs, with semi-final matches to 15 points, and gold/bronze medal matches best 2/3 to 11.

This will be an outdoor tournament and is subject to weather. In the event of poor weather, every effort will be made to complete events. If an event cannot be completed due to weather, participants will be refunded their registration fee minus a $5 administration fee.

DISCLAIMER: this is the tournament director's first time using Pickleball Brackets to organize a tournament (despite organizing numerous tournaments manually), so please be patient and expect a delay if submitting questions.

Bienvenue à l’Open de Pickleball du Club de Yacht Britannia, qui se tiendra le samedi 4 septembre et le dimanche 5 septembre 2021 (week-end de la Fête du Travail). Il est situé surplombant la magnifique rivière des Outaouais et se trouve à une courte distance en voiture de la plage Britannia (pour ceux qui recherchent une baignade rafraîchissante avant/après les événements de pickleball). Il y a deux terrains de pickleball dédiés récemment peints (peinture de pickleball, pas de peinture de tennis) et six terrains de pickleball supplémentaires disponibles pour le tournoi (sur les courts de tennis).

ÉVÉNEMENTS PRINCIPAUX

Pour le mixeur social 4.0/4.5,les joueurs 4.0 et 4.5 sont invités à participer. Minimum 4 matchs à la ronde pour 15 points. Les meilleurs hommes et les meilleures femmes participeront aux séries éliminatoires, avec des matchs de demi-finale à 15 points, et des matchs pour la médaille d'or/bronze meilleurs 2/3 à 11.

Ce sera un tournoi en plein air et est sujet à la météo. En cas de mauvais temps, tous les efforts seront faits pour terminer les événements. Si un événement ne peut pas être complété en raison de la météo, les participants seront remboursés de leurs frais d'inscription moins les frais d'administration de 5 $.

Each registrant will receive one burger or jumbo sausage (available on September 4/5 during the afternoon), as well as a ticket for a draft or glass of wine during club bar hours. Exact hours of availability will be provided closer to the tournament.
