🛡️ Charleston Rangers MoneyBall – Health & Safety Policy (Updated)
The Charleston Rangers are committed to providing a safe, fair, and athlete-focused event environment.
All participants, spectators, and staff must adhere to the following Health & Safety standards:
1️⃣ Active Medical Coverage Required
All players must have active medical insurance on the day of the tournament. By registering, players acknowledge they are personally responsible for any medical emergencies, injuries, or healthcare needs that occur before, during, or after competition.
The tournament staff, venue, and event organizers are not liable for:
• Injuries sustained during play
• Medical conditions triggered or aggravated during the event
• Emergency medical treatment or transportation
• Lost playing time due to injury
Players must compete at their own risk.
2️⃣ Personal Health Responsibility
All players are responsible for arriving in proper physical condition to compete safely.
You may not participate if you:
• Have an active injury or condition that limits safe play
• Are advised by a doctor not to compete
• Are recovering from surgery without clearance
• Exhibit symptoms of contagious illness
Tournament staff may remove players from play if their condition poses a safety risk to themselves or others.
3️⃣ Hydration, Nutrition & Recovery
Players are encouraged to:
• Perform mobility & flexibility and/or dynamic warm-up exercises before/during/after competition
• Hydrate continuously throughout the day
• Bring electrolytes, snacks, and recovery aids
• Take breaks between blocks
• Wear appropriate shoes and clothing for safe movement
• Warm up properly before matches
• Stretch and cool down after play
4️⃣ Heat, Fatigue & Overuse Awareness
Even in an indoor facility, dehydration and fatigue can become issues. Players entering multiple divisions must manage workload responsibly.
If a player appears:
• Excessively fatigued
• Dizzy
• Unstable
• Injured or compromised
Event staff may temporarily pause their play or request they seek medical evaluation.
5️⃣ Emergency Procedures
• Pickle Rage North Charleston has restrooms, water stations, and first-aid supplies.
• 911 will be contacted immediately for any serious injury or medical situation.
• Players must immediately notify staff of any incident on or off the court.
6️⃣ DUPR & Paddle Safety Impact
• Delaminated, cracked, or unsafe paddles are not permitted, as they may cause injury.
• Only USAPA- or UPA-A-approved paddles may be used.
• All paddles must pass tournament check-in inspection.
• Organizer reserves the right to remove unsafe equipment at any time.
7️⃣ Acknowledgment of Risk (Required at Registration)
By entering this event, players confirm they understand and assume all risks associated with pickleball competition, including:
• Sprains, strains, collisions, falls
• Hand/wrist/ankle injuries
• Joint overuse
• Heat stress or dehydration
• Unexpected accidents
All entries require acceptance of the full Liability Waiver & Safety Agreement during registration.
