The first Capital Showdown for the Deaf and Signing Community is hosted by the DC Deaf Pickleball Club. This event offers an inclusive setting for the Deaf, hard of hearing, CODAs, and other ASL users to compete, socialize, and connect through the sport of pickleball. The showdown promotes effortless communication and interaction in ASL, nurturing a sense of community and inclusivity among participants.

Registration - $40 plus $10 per event

Saturday, August 3rd - Fixed Doubles - Skill levels- 3.5 / 4.0+

Sunday, August 4th - Mixed Doubles - Skill levels- 3.0 / 3.5

As registration progresses, tournament management reserves the right to combine or adjust brackets as necessary based on the number of participants.

Your spot is not guaranteed in your event until both partners are registered and paid in full.

All Event Formats:

All events will have Round Robin Games and then a Single Elimination Playoff.

All round robin, pre-medal, and bronze game scores will be one game to 11, win by 1

All gold/silver games will be one game to 11, win by 2

Round Robin Tiebreaker:

During Round Robin when there is a head-to-head, the tiebreaker logic is as followed:

1st tie-breaker: head-to-head matches won

2nd tie-breaker: points differential of all games played

3rd tie-breaker: head-to-head point differential

4th tie-breaker: point differential against next-highest team

5th tie-breaker: match coordinator will refer to who has the higher DUPR/PBR score as an individual or the average as a team

Pickleball Prizes:

Gold Medal: Awarded to the 1st place team/player.

Silver Medal: Awarded to the 2nd place team/player.

Bronze Medal: Awarded to the 3rd place team/player.
