Registration is now closed for the inaugural Dink One For History Pickleball Tournament. Thank you to everyone for providing such tremendous support for this fundraiser to benefit the Chico History Museum.
We invite you to a social open play on Friday night from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Chico Racquet Club. This is not just a practice session but a chance to bond with your fellow competitors and share the excitement of the upcoming tournament. Players, spectators, and other attendees will check in at the main clubhouse near the tennis courts.
On Saturday, the Pickleball Clubhouse will open at 7:00 AM for entry to the tournament area. Players, spectators, and other attendees must check in at the Chico Racquet Club desk before entering the premises. No spectators are allowed on the courts at any time. Portable chairs can be used on the premises if they do not block pathways, gates, doors, host tables, and official areas.
Play start times are now available. Please prepare and plan your day accordingly.
Women’s Doubles, all divisions, will start at 7:30 AM
Men's Doubles, all divisions, will begin at 11:00 AM
Mixed Doubles, 3.0-Groups A and B, and 3.5-Group B will start at 2:30 PM
Mixed Doubles 3.5-Group A and 4.0 will begin at 6:00 PM.
Please check in at the registration table at least 30 minutes before your scheduled start time. Log in to your Pickleball Brackets profile to sign all waivers. If you register with the help of the tournament director or are a parent or guardian of a player under 18, you will sign a paper waiver upon checking in. Don’t forget to grab your swag bag and all your pre-purchased items. Sessions are expected to start on time, and we ask for your cooperation in ensuring punctuality. Please remember that arriving late by more than 10 minutes will result in forfeiting your first game. Portable courts will be available for practice, and we kindly request that no practice occurs on permanent courts adjacent to tournament games in progress. Punctuality is vital to the smooth running of the tournament and shows respect for other participants' time.
It's essential to stay hydrated during the tournament. We encourage you to bring water bottles. For your convenience, there is a water fountain and an ice chest by the players' lounge. Please keep yourself hydrated and stay cool in between games. Your safety and well-being are our top priority.
Three gates allow access to the courts near the players' lounge. We intend for a seamless experience and ask that you be respectful when entering and leaving the courts, thus minimizing disruptions during gameplay. If a game is ongoing at the courts, wait between points, make eye contact with the players, and ask permission to cross the court. Practice proper court etiquette at all times, as it contributes to a respectful and enjoyable playing environment for all participants.
All players will play games in a round-robin format. Please determine who will serve first by spinning a paddle, rock-paper-scissors, or holding fingers behind your back. Your call! Each round will commence after all games in the previous round are complete. Following the round-robin stage, the top two teams in each bracket will compete for gold and silver medals, while the third and fourth teams in each bracket will compete for bronze medals.
If you are in a bracket with four teams, you will play a double round robin, games to 11, and win by one. If you are in a bracket of five teams, you will play a single round robin, games to 15, and win by one. If you are in a bracket of six teams, you will play a single round robin, games to 12, and win by one. If you are in a bracket of seven teams, you will play a single round robin, games to 11, and win by one. Medal round matches will be one game to 15, and win by 2.
IMPORTANT: After your game is over, one player from each team must sign the score sheet. The signature means that you verify and accept the score reported. Scores matter and are final once entered into the system.
Each match allows for two timeouts per team, each lasting one minute. Additionally, a water break will not be counted as a timeout, although we kindly ask that no communication occurs between partners during this break, maintaining focus on safety and hydration.
Chico History Museum volunteers are excited to offer various food options at the courtside concession stand. Throughout the day, you can look forward to enjoying fresh local pastries, breakfast treats, Bidwell Perk coffee, fresh fruits, old-fashioned burgers, energizing snacks, cold beverages, and ice cream. Alcoholic drinks will be available at the Chico Racquet Club.
In addition to the delicious food, there will be an exciting raffle contest, including Pickleball paddles, gear, and local experiences. If you haven’t purchased tickets in advance, they will be available from the courtside Museum desk. Buy a pack and drop them in your favorite items. The silent auction will feature rare items courtesy of the Museum’s Exhibits Committee, so participate in bidding. Raffle drawings and silent auction bidding will conclude at 4:00 PM. Don’t worry if you are absent when you win the raffle or if you win the bid at the close of the auction - we will contact you to arrange delivery. Ensure your contact information is on the ticket and the silent auction bid sheet, and keep your raffle ticket stub for verification.
Custom Dink One For History and Chico History Museum apparel and products are available at the courtside Museum store. It's a great souvenir to remember the tournament and support its cause.
