FORMAT

Round Robin format, one game to 15, win by 2, no cap

Events with 4 or 5 teams will have only one pool. The top 4 teams advance to the medal round

Events with 8, 9 or 10 teams will be split into two pools. The top 2 teams from each pool advance to the medal round.

Preliminary playoff: Pool A2 vs Pool B1, Pool B2 vs Pool A1

Winners of preliminary playoff matches play for Gold/Silver, 1 game to 15, win by 2, no cap

Losers of preliminary playoff matches play for Bronze, one game to 15, win by 2, no cap

Early registration for Delta Pickleball Association members in good standing who have informed the Tournament Director at dashnsmash23@gmail.com before March 30, 2023 at 8:00 a.m.

Registration for the General Public will open on April 1, 2023, 8:00 a.m.

Registration closes on May 13, 2023, 5:00 p.m.

Registration fee: $50 plus $15 per event

An online PCO waiver will be used.

REGISTERING FOR AN EVENT

The skill level of players is determined by the data in the players' Pickleball Brackets profile. The priority for determining a player's skill level is their Canadian Tournament Player Rating (CTPR). If that is lacking then their Pickleball Brackets profile tournament rating, and if that is lacking their Pickleball Brackets self-rating. When registering for a skill level, eg. 4.0 at least one of the players must be rated at the skill level of the event. Note: a 3.5 and a 4.0 player are eligible to play in 4.0. Two 3.5 players cannot play in 4.0.

* Please note: To encourage participation in tournaments by those players below the 3.0 level, those players less than a 3.0 rating will be allowed to register in the 3.0 skill level category only, as long as one of the players is a 3.0 level player.

Registration is online only at https://pickleballbrackets.com/. Registration is not complete until BOTH partners have registered, agreed to the online waiver, and PAID in full. Online payment via PayPal. Please note: PayPal accepts credit card payments. When the maximum per event is reached based on fully registered/paid teams, others will be added to the waitlist.

Note: If the partner has not completed their registration within THREE days of the first partner registering, the team will be moved to the waitlist if there are fully-paid teams on the waitlist. When the identified partner registers after the three-day grace period, the team will move from the waitlist back to the active list ONLY if there is a slot available. In the case of waitlists, in doubles events – teams will take priority over individuals.

All players must complete their registration by May 13, 2023, 5:00 p.m., or they could potentially be placed on the Waitlist. Players may enter as a team or look under “Players Needing Partners” to find a partner.

COMPLETE means, the waiver is signed, the registration is paid in full and your partner needs to be registered, the waiver signed and paid in full as well.

The Tournament Committee reserves the right to place players in the Skill Group based on their current CTPR/UTPR/USAPA skill rating. The Tournament Committee has the right to make changes to the tournament, combine divisions, or change and alter the format depending on the number of registrations received.

Rain-out date is Monday, June 5, 2023 should it be required. PLEASE plan to be available for the rain-out day.

In the case of inclement weather or other unforeseen issues between June 3 & 4 that prevent play, only those participants who did not play in ANY event will be refunded their registration & event fees, minus a $15.00 administration fee.

The Dash 'N Smash is a fun, doubles round robin tournament. Meet other players and enjoy a couple of days of great pickleball.

HELPFUL INFORMATION

- Players are encouraged to bring their own portable chairs

- A hat or umbrella for personal shade is a good idea

- Dehydration can happen quickly when playing in the sun, please make sure you have packed enough water and electrolytes for the day

Officiating: All medal matches will be refereed. If you are willing to referee, please contact the Tournament Director at dashnsmash@deltapickleball.org

Certified Referees - $15/ match Level 2 Referees - $10/ match

Level 1 Referees - $7/ match Volunteer Referees - $5/ match

Clothing: If a player is wearing clothing that is the same colour as the ball, he/she may be asked to change apparel by the Tournament Director.

REFUND POLICY:

Registrants withdrawing before May 13, 2023, 5:00 p.m. will be refunded registration & event fees minus a $15.00 administration fee. There will be absolutely NO non event day weather related refunds after May 13, 2023, 5:00 p.m. for player cancellations or withdrawals.
