Owensboro Country Club is honored to host the 2nd annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes ("FCA") Pickleball Tournament. The FCA is a sports ministry designed to lead coaches and athletes into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church. FCA has impacted the lives of thousands of Kentucky's young men and women.
This tournament is open to the public. Friday, August 15th, we are hosting a seniors' doubles tournament. Seniors are defined as anyone 55 years of age or older. For both men and women in the seniors events, we will offer divisions for Intermediates, Advanced and Champions (as defined below). Friday night Owensboro's own Altaf Merchant and his wife Ashley are sponsoring a team event to help FCA. Altaf is a member of The Senior Pro Tour. Sponsored by Onix Pickleball Altaf was ranked #2 in Mens Doubles on the tour at the end of 2024 and has been ranked #1 in the world on The Senior Pro Tour multiple times. "Team Altaf vs. Team Ashley" will be held after the seniors events and will be a round robin event with the winning team having secured the most wins/points. This exciting event will include a draft prior to the event. The first 21, 3.5 rated players and above that signup will participate.
On Saturday, August 16th we are hosting a mens' and womens' doubles tournament. You may sign up without a partner and we will assist you with the location of a partner. The tournament will be divided into categories based upon players' skill level and gender. There will be four competitions for men and two for women. The men's competitions are: Beginners, defined as players rated 2.0 to 3.0; Intermediates, defined as players rated 3.5; Advanced, defined as players rated 4.0; and Champions for players 4.5 and above. The women's competitions are: Beginners, defined as players rated 2.0 to 3.0; and, Intermediates, defined as players rated 3.5 and above.
Regarding the Seniors events previously mentioned. a Senior is defined as anyone 55 years of age or older. For both men and women in the seniors' events, we will offer divisions for Intermediates, Advanced and Champions (as defined above).
We are excited to mention we are having Pickleball and Pizza Jr Tournament for players 18 and under. The cost is $25 per player. Each division will play a round robin with the number of games dependent on the number of entrants. We will combine divisions if there are not enough players for a bracket, or move players if necessary to balance the groups.
