Welcome to the 5th annual Iron Horse Open! Played at the awesome Pinafore Park in St. Thomas, Ontario. Once again, a portion of the proceeds will go to the St. Thomas Pickleball Club.
This is Pickleball Canada sanctioned event (pending). Event placement will use the CTPR for your official rating. You must have a Pickleball Canada membership to enter this tournament. Please make sure your Pickleball Canada member number is entered into your pickleballtournaments.com profile. If you are not currently a member you can go to pickleballcanada.org to sign up. You are responsible for making sure your paddle is on the USAP approved paddle list.
Results will also feed into your DUPR rating.
Friday will be split age day where one partner must be 50+ and one partner under 50. Gender doubles in the morning and mixed in the afternoon categories will be 3.5 and under, 4.0+. Saturday will be skill/age gender doubles and Sunday mixed doubles played at 16,35,50,65+, 3.0, 3.5 4.0 and Open divisions. Play will be round robin feeding into a single elimination medal round with bronze medal game. Open divisions will be played as a double elimination bracket (minimum 6 teams) and will have prize money.
Gold medalists will qualify for the True North Pickleball Tour Championship in September.
Play will be with the Franklin X40 yellow ball, the official ball of True North Pickleball.
You must check in each and every day you are competing. Please make sure you are checked in and ready to play at least 30 minutes prior to your event start time as we will begin early where possible.
Five minute warm up prior to your first game, two minutes for subsequent matches. We ask that you strictly adhere to these times so that the event can stay on schedule for those starting later in the day.
Court assignments and other game day communications will be by text message so please make sure you keep your phone on you whenever you are off court.
Winning team is responsible for returning the game basket with balls and score sheet to the tournament desk.
This is an outdoor event and subject to the whims of nature. Every effort will be made to complete all matches. If your event is canceled you will receive a 50% refund on the event fee. If you are unable to play any other events you will also receive a 50% refund on the registration fee.
