Welcome to the 2024 Southern Pickleball Alabama State Championship.
The high-tech city of Huntsville, which sprawls at the foot of a mountain in North Alabama, is equally at home in the 19th century or the 21st. Huntsville's tourist attractions reflect the heritage of Alabama's first English-speaking city, the strife of the American Civil War and the accomplishments of America's rocket scientists.
The city is nicknamed "The Rocket City" for its close history with U.S. space missions. Huntsville has been important in developing space technology since the 1950s.
The venue is the Alabama Athletic Club, a beautiful tennis facility located five minutes from US-231 and only a few minutes from I-565. Matches will be played on the indoor tennis courts inside a climate-controlled facility.
The schedule is as follows:
Saturday, August 31st - Men's & Women's Doubles
Sunday, September 1st - Mixed Doubles
Monday, September 2nd - Men's and Women's Singles
Competition each day may begin as early as 8:00 AM. Specific start times for each event will be posted and emailed to players approximately one week prior to the event.
Format of play will be round robin. Medal rounds will follow the round robin play if the bracket size is over 3 teams.
As registration proceeds, tournament management reserves the option to combine brackets as needed if brackets do not fill. If brackets are combined to create playable brackets, awards will be based on the original division and not the combined bracket. Brackets will be combined by age if possible to avoid combining skills.
Skills levels include 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5+.
Age groups are 19+, 35+, 50+, 60+, 70+
A team must play at the skill level of the higher rated player (or higher) and the age group of the younger player. Age is calculated as of 12/31/2024.
RATINGS
- PickleballBrackets.com ratings will be used.
