Welcome to Lake Taupo Champs 2024

To be held at the fabulous Taupo Events Centre, also known as the AC Baths.

This indoor venue, features 10 wooden floor Courts, with great facilities including kitchen facilities, dining area, onsite Cafe and great viewing platforms above.

We will be introducing several new and exciting changes at this event, which include:

- Open division finals will be best of 5 games (excluding singles)

- New Skinny Singles Divisions

- Seniors will now be lowered to anyone turning 50 and over in 2024

- Awards and Recognition's over and above the medal winners.

- You can compete in all 4 events!! (Skinny's & Singles, Doubles and Mixed)

With only 10 courts we will be running just two divisions in each category (Open and 50 plus) - but we welcome everyone to register and play against New Zealand's best.

We have awards/recognition for other areas, not just our medal winners, so come and play in what is shaping up to be a very competitive and fun event.

Friday 14th June - (Skinny from 2pm, full Singles from 4.30pm)

Singles and Skinny Singles - games to 11, win by 2

Semi and Finals best of 3 games to 11, win by 2.

Medal ceremony at end of the evening, including cash awards.

Saturday 15th June - from 7.30am

- Gender Doubles (Open and 50 plus)

- Opens will kick of first with the 50 Plus divisions starting at 10:30am

- Round robin games will be to 15, win by 2

- Semi, Bronze and (50 plus finals) matches, best of 3, win by 2

- Finals for Open, best of 5 to 11, win by 2.

- Please note, *NO tournament dinner

Sunday 16th June - from 7.30am

- Mixed Doubles

- Opens will kick of first with the 50 plus divisions starting at 10:30am

- Round robin games will be to 15, win by 2

- Semi, Bronze and (50 plus finals) matches, best of 3, win by 2

- Finals for Open, best of 5 to 11, win by 2.

*You can enter in all 4 divisions. e.g. Gender Doubles, Mixed, Skinny and Full Singles.

Because the venue is smaller, the tournament desk will be in the dining area, which is a lovely big space with tables and chairs and a full kitchen. Therefore we should be able to inform you quickly when your next game is due to be played.

We will announce times and structure closer to the day, so please watch out for this email the week before the tournament starts.

We will supply free instant coffee and a range of teas for you to help yourself over the tournament weekend.

We have learnt a lot from previous tournaments, and are constantly improving each event and this one is no different! We are confident this one will be amazing! See you all there!

IMPORTANT ........ Due to limited numbers, I recommend registering ASAP to avoid missing out. Both you and your partner BOTH need to register, otherwise you will automatically be placed on the waiting list - if you miss out you will be placed on a waiting list and given the first opportunity to register when a team withdraws.

Facilities:

- There are toilets and showers on site.

- There is free parking at the facility.

- We highly suggest booking accommodation as soon as possible as Taupo is often busy in winter months.

- There is a cafe on site for food options and a full kitchen as mentioned above.

Tournament fees are refundable until registration closes on 30th May 2024. Your registration fee with be refunded up until 30th May 2024 minus the $16USD non refundable service fee.

Taupo is naturally a colder region in New Zealand - please allow plenty of travel time across the Napier/Taupo road or Desert Road if weather conditions are poor, these roads often get closed.

We recommend you bring warm jackets and clothing to pop on when you're not playing.

Health and Safety is a priority, and I encourage you to wear safety glasses when playing to avoid eye injuries.

Please try and avoid wearing jewellery, especially rings when playing.

If you see any potential hazard or safety concern please notify the tournament desk immediately so we can fix the situation, or go directly to the front desk of the venue if the concern is urgent.

We are following all the rules and procedure of the Taupo Events Centre and will inform and update you should any situation arise concerning your Health and Safety.
