Weather Delays or Cancellations
Play may be delayed due to:
Rain or wet court surfaces
Lightning or severe weather warnings
Unsafe playing conditions (excessive wind, standing water, etc.)
If a weather delay occurs:
Players should remain on-site or nearby unless instructed otherwise by tournament staff.
Tournament officials will monitor weather conditions and provide updates regularly.
Matches may resume once courts are deemed safe and playable.
Tournament staff may change match formats to keep events on schedule.
Lightning Policy
For player safety:
If lightning is detected in the area, all matches will be suspended immediately.
Players must leave the courts and seek shelter.
Play will not resume until at least 30 minutes after the last lightning strike in the area.
Schedule Adjustments
To complete the event after delays, the tournament director may:
Reduce match scoring (example: games to 9 instead of 11)
Switch from best-of-three to single game matches
Adjust or eliminate consolation brackets
Move directly into playoff rounds
All schedule changes will be announced at tournament headquarters and/or through event communication channels.
Tournament Cancellation
In the event of severe or prolonged weather:
The tournament director reserves the right to delay, shorten, or cancel the tournament.
If cancellation occurs before the tournament begins, players may receive a partial/full refund or credit towards a future tournament depending on tournament costs already incurred.
Communication During Weather Issues
Updates will be provided through:
Tournament announcements
Event staff
Event communication platforms (email, text alerts, or social media if applicable)
Players are responsible for checking for updates and staying informed throughout the event.
