PLAYOFFS
The number of teams that qualify for the playoffs will depend on the number of teams in the pool. All playoff games will be one game to 15, win by 2.
The tournament director reserves the right to change the format and alter the format for round robin playoffs, based on the number of teams registered. The TD reserves the right to cancel an event due to a lack of registrations. Categories with 3 teams will not be played. All participants must check their events 24 hours prior to the start of the tournament to ensure no changes have been made to the event.
The tournament features 2 age groups: 50-64 years and 65 and above.
To play in the 65+ division, BOTH players must be at least 65 years old as of December 31, 2026.
RATINGS
DUPR ratings will be used. No other ratings will be considered for this tournament. The rating used will be the player's rating at the time of registration. You must have a DUPR account to register for the tournament. (See DUPR section below) See tournament FLYER on main page for DUPR instructions.
One player on each team must qualify for the event for which the team is registering. (eg. 3.5 men's doubles - one player must have a DUPR rating of 3.5. The other player's rating can be no lower than .5 below the skill level of the group, so 3.0). Players can play down in age, up in skill, based on the criteria listed above. Teams will be required to register in the division for which they qualify. Eg. If both players have a DUPR rating of 3.5, the team must register in a 3.5 event.
CHANGES IN RATINGS: If a player's rating increases between his/her date of registration and the registration cutoff date, January 23, 2026, and this changes the skill level for which the team qualifies, the Tournament Director reserves the right to move the team UP to the skill category for which they qualify. Players will not be moved down after registration without consultation with the TD. Before considering whether to move a team "up/down" the TD will consider the size of events at each level and whether the move will help balance groups for the betterment of the tournament. The tournament director's decision is final. Refunds will not be offered if a team is moved to a different category.
REQUESTS TO PLAY IN A HIGHER SKILL LEVEL are at the discretion of the Tournament Director. Requests to play "up" should be made directly to the Tournament Director. The TD will consider the criteria listed above when deciding whether to allow a team to play in a higher skill level. If more than one team applies to play in a higher skill level, and there is room, the team with the higher (combined) DUPR rating will be given first priority. To apply to play in a higher skill level contact: helpdeskleisureworld@gmail.com
All tournament scores will be transferred to DUPR. No exceptions. See DUPR instructions below.
