Mixed Doubles Pickleball League- 4 weeks (This is not a one-day tournament, it is a 4 week league)
Dates: January 4, 11, 18, 25 (Thursdays)
Time: 7-9:30pm
Grab your pickleball friends and create a team of four, 2 females & 2 males.
Each player must sign up individually as a singles player. This is to track sign ups and receive payment. Individuals may sign up if they don’t have a team and we can add you to a team. If you sign up and pay without being added to a team then you’ll get a full refund.
Each team must choose a captain before signing up. Team captains, please send an email to APEEKE@LT.LIFE giving the name and current DUPR rating of all 4 players on your team.
Skill Level: DUPR 16- The team’s aggregate DUPR must not exceed 16.00
This means that 4 players with a 4.0 DUPR rating would be accepted, along with 2 players at 4.5 partnered with 2 players at 3.5, and any other combination that adds up to 16. (no players above 4.75) Unrated players will count as a 4.65 DUPR. Rated players with suspiciously deflated DUPR ratings must have a minimum of 15 DUPR matches played, or will be addressed on a case-by-case basis. DUPR ratings are counted on the day of signing up, it is acceptable if your DUPR rating changes during the term of the league.
Substitutes: If a player is not available then the team can replace that player with a sub of the same gender and a DUPR rating of same/lower rating. Additionally, any game that a sub plays in will automatically start the opposing team with 3 points on the scoreboard, this also applies to dreambreakers.
4 teams, 2 female/2 male players per team.
First 3 weeks are regular season play, final week is the championship week.
Every team plays each team once during the regular season. On the 4th week the top 2 teams play for 1st place, The next two teams play for third place.
The MLP format team matches are composed of four 21-point games with rally scoring (not traditional side-out scoring), with the first being women’s doubles, then men’s doubles, and the final two games consisting of mixed doubles.
Unlike traditional scoring, where a team can only score points when they are on the serving side, in rally scoring, a point is earned after every rally, whether it was won by the serving or receiving team. However, the first team to reach twenty points reverts back to the traditional format and needs to win by two.
If both teams are tied at 2-2 after the 4 games played, they’ll go to a Dreambreaker! In a Dreambreaker one person from each team plays singles against each other, switching every four points until someone gets to 21 and wins by two points. To level up the stakes, the home team has to present its singles line-up first then the away team gets the chance to counter that with their own configuration of their lineup to match and counter each player’s skills!
Each week:
Top teams after week 3 decided by: 1) win-loss record. 2) head-to-head result. 3) point differential of all wins & losses
Play to 21 (win by 2), rally scoring. switch sides when the first team reaches 11 points.
