Match Point Open (MPO)
Join us on August 15, 2026, for the inaugural Match Point Open (MPO), an MLP-style team tournament hosted by Match Point Sports Group and Bash Pickleball Club.
The Match Point Open brings a unique team competition format to one of Michigan's premier pickleball facilities. Teams will consist of three players (2 men and 1 woman) competing in a series of Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles matches throughout pool play and the championship bracket.
Divisions:
• Open Division (Cash Prize Division - Minimum team DUPR: 13.5)
• Challenger Division (4.75 DUPR Individual Cap)
• Contender Division (4.25 DUPR Individual Cap)
Ball Choice:
• Open Division - LT Pro 48*
• Challenger Division - LT Pro 48*
• Contender Division - Franklin X-40*
*Match Point Sports Group reserves the right to swap to another ball in the event the named ball of choice is not available at the time of the tournament.
Tournament Format
Team Format
Each team match consists of:
• Mixed Doubles #1
• Men's Doubles
• Mixed Doubles #2
The team winning the majority of matches wins the team contest.
Pool Play + Playoffs
Teams will compete in pool play to determine playoff seeding.
• Minimum 3 team matches (6 games) guaranteed
• Goal of 4+ team matches per team whenever possible
• Top teams from each pool advance to a championship playoff bracket
• Playoff format may vary based on registration numbers and division size
Tournament organizers reserve the right to adjust pools, playoff qualification, and bracket structure to ensure competitive balance and efficient event scheduling.
Scoring
• Side-out scoring for pool matches to 11 (Medal Rounds to 15)
• Win by 2
• No Dreambreaker tiebreakers
Registration Policies
• Teams are considered fully registered when all three players have registered and paid
• Teams with incomplete registrations may be moved to the waitlist until all roster spots are completed
• Registration is first-come, first-served based on completed team registrations
Additional Information
• Open Division will feature a cash prize purse (see Prize Money Description, below)
• Tournament start times will be announced after registration closes
• Match Point Sports Group reserves the right to move teams between divisions to maintain competitive integrity
• All formats, schedules, playoff structures, and division details are subject to change based on registration numbers, court availability, and tournament conditions
• Matches impacted by withdrawals, no-shows, or forfeits will be considered completed matches
