FORMAT OF PLAY
Every division plays a minimum of 4 round-robin pool play matches. These games are played to 15 win by 2. Depending on the number of players that register, you may play more than 4 games, and you may have a bye-round.
The top teams from each pool will then play a single-elimination playoff bracket. The format of these playoff games are 1 game to 15 win by 2.
The format of the medal matches are best 2 out of 3 games to 11 win by 2.
SKILL ASSESSMENT
We expect players to play with integrity in their appropriate skill division, sandbagging will not be tolerated, but you can play up in skill if desired. Use your DUPR score to determine your appropriate bracket.
If you are signing up for a doubles event, we use the average of your DUPR ratings to determine eligibility. The Match Point Open tournament director will review DUPR scores and win/loss history. We reserve the right to move players between skill brackets based on this data.
These divisions are ranges: meaning, division 3.0 ranges from 3.0-3.49 and division 3.5 ranges from 3.5-3.99, and so forth. For doubles, if one player has a 3.15 and the other player has a 3.42, their average is 3.285, and they would play in the 3.0 division.
MINIMUM REGISTRATIONS
If a division doesn't meet the minimum registration requirement, it may be canceled without affecting the payouts for other divisions.
REPORTING TO DUPR
The Match Point Open will not report scores to DUPR directly. However, it is the player's responsibility to either enable or disable DUPR reporting in their Pickleball Brackets account.
