The New Jersey Senior Olympics Pickleball Tournament (NJSO), 2024 is open to players who will be 50 as of December 31, 2024. In-state and out-of-state residents are welcome.

THIS IS A QUALIFYING YEAR for the National Senior Games (NSG). The NSG will be held in Des Moines, Iowa on July 24 - August 4, 2025. See all details at nsga.com.

EVENTS:

Mixed Doubles, Men’s Doubles, and Women’s Doubles, Men's Singles, Women's Singles. Sign up by age groups only. 50-54, 55-59, etc. Ratings (skill level), will be pulled first from pickleballbrackets.com (PB) and second by self rating. Skill level will be used to split age groups into pools, if necessary. Final bracketing will be determined by the NJSO Pickleball Tournament Committee. You may register for two event only. Bear in mind that if you register in two events on the same day, there could be a few hours wait between events. The fee PB charges is $5 per event, so if you register for Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles for example, the fee that PB collects is $10.

START TIMES:

Official start times will be issued via Email and posting on the website about a week prior to the tournament.

FORMAT:

Round Robin, win by first to 11. If the bracket is split into two pools, the first and second finishers from each pool will play a single elimination playoff for the medals. We will follow the USA Pickleball Rulebook, 2024. Players will self-score and self-referee and report the score to the Court Monitor.

RATINGS:

Player ratings are based on Pickleball Brackets and self ratings. The NJSO DOES NOT use DUPR to rate players.

COURTS:

12 dedicated courts with permanent nets. There are no dedicated practice courts.

FEES: $45 plus a $5 service fee per event, to pickleballbrackets.com as well as medals and shirt.

IMPORTANT:

If you do not have a partner registered in 15 days after you register and the event fills up, you will be moved to the “Wait List” automatically. If your partner withdraws, and the event is full, you have 15 days to find a new partner. Otherwise you will be automatically be moved to the Wait List

IMPORTANT:

Due to events beyond our control (delays due to rain, etc.), it is possible that your scheduled event will be pushed to the next day, including Sunday. If needed, we will schedule your event on a future date, but only once.

REPORTS:

With respect to qualifying for the National Senior Games, we will report the first 4 finishers in each Age Group to the NSG a few weeks after the NJSO completes.

Regarding the general registration fee paid to the NJ Senior Olympics of $45, there is no refund.

Regarding the $5 per event fee paid to picklebrackets.com, there is no refund.

If there is a threat of rain, we will usually make a decision 2 days prior to game day. This year we are playing Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so if there is a rain delay, the bracket will either be added to the next day's schedule, including Sunday, or planned for a future date, but only once.
