Seeding will go as follows: The top 8 DUPR rated doubles players will be randomly assigned partners on the top 2 courts. The next 8 players will be randomly assigned partners on the next 2 courts. the next 12 players will be randomly assigned partners on the next 3 courts. 7 courts, 28 players
10 games guaranteed. The final 4 games of pool play will be entered into DUPR, games before that will not be entered into DUPR.
First 3 games will be warm up games to 11 rally scoring, and not count towards the final standings. These games are to give everyone a chance to move up/down the ladder without affecting their point total/final standings. Essentially, if a really good player starts on a lower court, or bad player on upper court, then these three games will help regulate that. The warm up games will be winners move up & split/ losers move down & split.
The next 7 games will count toward point totals. Rally scoring to 21 (win by 2, teams do not need to win on their serve, hard stop at 25) Winners move up and split, losers move down and split. Each team gets 1 time out per game. Switch sides of the net when the first team reaches 11 points.
When moving to the next court, players must play with a partner that they have not yet played with during this event. The highest rated DUPR player on the court gets to choose their next partner, but must choose someone that they have not yet played with. If they have played with all 3 then they can freely choose. The 3 warm up games do not count towards playing with someone.
Point totals for wins will count as follows:
Court 7: 1.7 points (top court)
Court 6: 1.6 points
Court 5: 1.5 points
Court 4: 1.4 points
Court 3: 1.3points
Court 2: 1.2 points
Court 1: 1.1 points (bottom court)
Losses will count as face value. For example: Team A beats Team B on court 7, 21-19. Each player on Team A gets 35 points (21x1.7=35), each player on Team B gets 19 points. Team C beats Team D on court 1, 21-10. Each player on Team C gets 23 points (21x1.1=23), each player on Team D gets 10 points.
After the 7 official pool play games are completed, point totals will be added up, the top 4 players will go into a championship round of 3 games, same format, each of the top 4 players will play with/against each person and the highest point total at the end will be declared the winner and receive $1000. all points in this final round will count at face value and not be multiplied.
Finals: the player with the highest point total before starting the finals will start out with 3 points, second place will start out with 2 points, third place will start with 1 point, forth place with 0 points. Games to 21, win by 2, do not need to win on serve. If the finals end up in a tie then the top 2 players will play a singles game to 15, rally scoring, win by 2, do not need to win on serve.
The final 4 games, along with the 3 game final, will be entered into DUPR, games before that will not be entered into DUPR.
Between the warm up games and point total games every player will have ample opportunity to reach the top court.
