2022 Pickleball Canada Atlantic Regional Championship

Friday, June 3rd to Sunday, June 5th, 2022

The Atlantic Regional Championship will be skill (and age) based and be played at the Grant Harvey Centre in Fredericton, NB. This is a Pickleball Canada sanctioned tournament that will use IFP rules.

ELIGIBILITY

- This is a closed tournament and only residents of New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island are eligible to participate.

- All players must be a member or a registered participant of Pickleball Canada. To join or renew your membership go to https://pickleballcanada.org and click the join/renew button in the top right corner.

COVID RESTRICTIONS

- Covid guidelines set by the Government of New Brunswick will be followed.

- FPC recommends that players wear masks when not playing.

REGISTRATION

- Registration opens on April 1, 2022 at 8 AM and closes May 15, 2022 at 9 PM (Atlantic time).

- When registering, if you have a partner, choose 'I Have' and select him/her. If you do not have a partner but wish to play in an event, select ‘I Need’ (which will allow other players to contact you).

- When creating your player profile you should have checked YES to 'Receive in game text messages'. You will then receive phone notifications regarding court assignments. There will also be a large screen in the lobby with an updating schedule to assist players in knowing when they play.

- Registration will be considered complete when both players are registered and payments have been made. If payment is not made within five days, your team will be moved to the waitlist and your position cannot be guaranteed if divisions reach capacity. Teams that are waitlisted because of divisions reaching capacity will be eligible for a refund as listed below.

FORMAT

- Current International Federation of Pickleball (IFP) rules will apply.

- Players must be 19 years of age or older any time in 2022 in order to compete.

- Age brackets are 19-49, 50-59, 60-69, & 70+ (your age on December 31, 2022).

- Skill will be divided by ‘3.0 and below’ and ‘3.5 and above’ for Singles play.

- Skill will be divided by ‘3.0 and below’, ‘3.5 only’ and '4.0 and above' for Doubles play.

- The tournament committee reserves the right to place players in their appropriate skill level.

- The tournament committee reserves the right to combine events.

- Events will be round robin with a single elimination playoff.

- All players are guaranteed a minimum of 4 matches per event.

- Medals will be awarded to the top three teams in each bracket.

- The registration fee is $45 plus $15 for each event entered.

HOSPITALITY

- A canteen will be open at the Grant-Harvey Centre on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with light meal items, drinks and snacks for sale.

- A hospitality table will be set up in the main lobby at the Grant-Harvey Centre providing bananas and granola bars for tournament participants while quantities last.

- Personal water bottles may be refilled at the venue.

- A reception for players and volunteers will be held upstairs at the Grant Harvey Center from 4-9pm on Saturday with a cash bar and light snacks. Hot hors d'oeuvres will be available from 5-7pm.

Players who withdraw prior to May 15, 2022, at 9 PM, will be reimbursed their registration fee minus a $12 administration fee. There will be no refunds afterwards unless the tournament is cancelled. If cancelled, players will be fully reimbursed minus the $12 administration fee.
