<!-- PLAYING UP IN A DIVISION -->
<h3 style="background-color:#ffeaea; padding:8px; border-radius:6px;"><strong>βοΈ RULES ON PLAYING UP</strong></h3>
<!-- 2026 Player βPlay Upβ Policy (Pickleball Power Play) -->
<div style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 1.5; color: #111;">
<strong>Effective:</strong> January 1, 2026
</div>
</div>
<p>
At <strong>Pickleball Power Play</strong>, we are committed to creating competitive, fair, and flexible playing opportunities for all athletes.
Beginning in 2026, players are officially allowed to <strong>βplay upβ one skill division</strong> if they choose to challenge themselves.
</p>
<h3 style="margin-top:18px; font-size:16px; font-weight:800;">What This Means</h3>
<p>
A player rated <strong>3.3</strong> (who technically falls in the <strong>3.0β3.49 division</strong>) may now register for their natural division,
the next higher division (<strong>3.5β3.9</strong>), or both divisions if scheduling permits.
</p>
<p>
This policy applies across all skill divisions unless otherwise noted in specific tournament guidelines.
</p>
<h3 style="margin-top:18px; font-size:16px; font-weight:800;">Why Weβre Allowing This</h3>
<p>
We recognize that rating systems are based on algorithms β and while they are helpful tools, they do not always capture the full picture of a playerβs true ability.
</p>
<p>
There is a human element to competition. Some players improve rapidly. Some ratings lag behind skill development.
In some cases, a playerβs true competitive ability is stronger than what their rating currently reflects.
</p>
<p>
Because of this, we believe players should have the opportunity to challenge themselves at the next level if they feel ready.
Our goal is to provide flexibility within a structured system, encourage competitive growth, reduce frustration, and keep the experience competitive, fair, and fun.
</p>
<h3 style="margin-top:18px; font-size:16px; font-weight:800;">Important Notes</h3>
<p>
Players may only play <strong>one division above</strong> their current rating. Tournament Directors reserve the right to combine, adjust,
or limit divisions based on registration numbers. Scheduling must allow participation in multiple divisions.
Playing up does not override official rating systems or guarantee future division placement.
