A MESSAGE FOR ALL PSP2025 SINGLES PLAYERS.
At the Pickleball Saskatchewan Provincial Tournament, 2025 Rally Scoring will be used for all Singles events. The under 60 years olds will play full court singles while the 60+ age events will play Mini/Skinny singles. Since this is a fairly new option, many players will not be current on the rules.
1. A point is awarded to the winner of each rally, except the game-winning point, which can only be scored when serving. A receiver who wins a rally will score a point if they are not at game point.
2. When the server loses a rally or faults, a side out will occur and the receiver scores a point, if not at game point. The receiver switches position based on their new score.
Examples based on a game to 21 points, win by two:
a. Player A is serving at 14-13 and Player B wins the rally. One point is awarded to Player B, a side out occurs, and Player B serves next at 14-14.
Whichever player wins the rally is awarded a point because neither player is at game point.
b. Player A is serving at 20-19 and wins the rally. A is awarded a point and wins the match, 21-19.
c. Player A is serving at 19-20 and Player B wins the rally. A side out occurs with no point awarded because Player B is at game point but was not serving. Player B serves next at 20-19.
3. The server will change position (side of the court) consistent with their new score after they earn a point. The receiver will line up cross court. See exception for Mini-Singles. (aka Skinny Singles)
Mini-Singles – Only one of the two courts at a player’s end is “in play” during a rally The player will be on the side appropriate to their score (right if even and left if odd) and that is the court that is in play for that rally. Sometimes the play will be to the court directly in front. Sometimes play will be cross court. The centre line will be taped through the Non Volley Zone.
See Rules 4.B.3.a, 4.B.6, 4.F.1, 4.G.1, 4.J.1 of the 2025 Rulebook for details on Rally scoring.
See Rules 12.O of the 2025 Rulebook for details on Mini-Singles.

A CHANGE IN THE 2025 RULEBOOK ALLOWS RALLY SCORING FOR SINGLES. PSP2025 WILL USE RALLY SCORING FOR ALL SINGLES AND MINI/SKINNY SINGLES MATCHES.
The current Global Pickleball Federation rules will apply.
Players must be 08 years of age or older any time in 2025 in order to compete.
Age brackets: 10-49, 50-59, 60-64, 65-69. 70+. There will be a junior event offered for boys and girls ages 8-14. Your tournament age is the age you will become in 2025.
Age brackets will be combined if the number of entries does not support separating brackets by age.
Events will be double elimination with each match being best 2 out of 3 games to 11 on the “A” side of the draw. On the “B” side of the draw each match will consist of one game to 15. Players are guaranteed three games. All singles matches will be rally scoring to 21.
Brackets with 6 teams or less will play a round robin format.
The tournament committee reserves the right to place players in their appropriate skill level category and to combine brackets based on registrations.
Medals will be awarded to the top three teams in each (combined) bracket.
If this is the first time you will participate in a tournament which uses the Pickleball Brackets system, give careful thought to the skill levels you recorded in your Player Profile. These skill levels plus .250 will be the starting point for your tournament rating calculation.
