The City of Salem and Visit Virginia's Blue Ridge, in collaboration with Performance Pickleball, are delighted to bring you the:

The PickleBrawl is slated to be the first sanctioned tournament in the Virginia Blue Ridge region with the goal to highlight not only the City of Salem, but also the entire Virginia Blue Ridge region, including the City of Roanoke, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Appalachian Trail and all the attractions that the area has to offer.

The tournament will be hosted at the newly renovated James I. Moyer Sports Complex, offering top of the class facilities and will be run by the Performance Pickleball team, offering a top of the class tournament experience. Together as a team, we are excited to bring this tournament along with players from around the state and the Mid-Atlantic region to Virginia's Blue Ridge!

This is a USAP sanctioned tournament being held at the brand-new pickleball courts at the newly renovated Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, VA. There will be Skill & Age Divisions in Men's and Women's Singles, Men's and Women's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles.

Age Divisions: 19+, 30+, 40+, 50+, 60+, minimum age to participate is 12

Skill Divisions: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, Open

The tournament will also feature Open Divisions within each of the Men's, Women's and Mixed events with Prize Money awarded to the top 3 teams/players in each Open Division event. Medal matches in the Open Divisions will be livestreamed and broadcasted each day on the Performance Pickleball YouTube page.

Matches will take place on 13 brand-new dedicated outdoor pickleball courts at Moyer Sports Complex. Medals will be awarded to the top 3 teams/players in each bracket.

Registration closes on Wednesday 9/4/24 - EXTENDED THROUGH 8:00PM SUNDAY 9/8/24!

Registration is $45 during the Early Registration Period which ends on Sunday 6/30/24. Registration will be $55 starting on Monday 7/1/24.

The registration fee is per player and includes a free tournament t-shirt and other tournament sponsor giveaways. Please be sure to indicate your shirt size during the registration process. Late or last-minute registrants may not be guaranteed a t-shirt and/or desired shirt size, so be sure to sign up early.

Event fees are $15 per event for all Skill & Age events and $30 per event for all Open Division events. There will also be a Pickleball Brackets non-refundable service fee of $5 per event or a maximum of $10 when registering for 2 or more events.

For doubles events, priority will be given to teams that have both partners registered and paid. Teams with only one partner registered and paid and teams with no designated partner will be waitlisted. To secure your spot in a doubles bracket, please make sure that both you and your partner are registered and paid.

This is a USA PICKLEBALL SANCTIONED tournament so all USAP 2024 rules will apply. USAP Membership is also required to play and all scores and results will count toward your USAP UTPR.

All Skill & Age brackets will be Round Robin with a Single Elimination bracket round and/or Medal Matches to be played immediately following the completion of Round Robin play.

Round Robin matches will be either best 2/3 games to 11 win by 2 or 1 game to 15 win by 2 or 1 game to 11 win by 2 depending on the size of the bracket and/or pools. Gold Medal matches will be best 2/3 games to 11 win by 2. Bronze Medal matches will be 1 game to 15 win by 2.

Open Division brackets will be Double Elimination. Double Elimination bracket matches will be best 2/3 games to 11 win by 2 in the Winners' Bracket and 1 game to 15 win by 2 in the Consolation Bracket. Teams/players in the Consolation Bracket will have a chance to advance back into the medal rounds. Gold Medal matches will be best 2/3 games to 11 win by 2 with a Tiebreaker match (if necessary) being 1 game to 15 win by 2. Bronze Medal matches will be 1 game to 15 win by 2.

Skill & Age groups may be combined at the discretion of the Tournament Director to create brackets as needed based on the number of registered teams/players. The Tournament Director also reserves the right to adjust the bracket and match formats as necessary.

The Cancellation Deadline is Saturday 8/31/24. Full refunds less the Pickleball Brackets non-refundable service fees will be given through this date. After this date, there will be no refunds for cancellations or withdrawals. For any extenuating circumstances or situations, please contact the Tournament Director for approval.

Prize Money will be awarded to the top 3 teams/players in each of the Open Division events. Payout amounts for each event are as follow and will be guaranteed contingent on a minimum bracket size as determined by the Tournament Director:

This is an outdoor tournament and there are no plans for a rain site or a rain date. We will keep everyone posted regarding any delays or cancellations due to weather. We will do our best to get in as much of the tournament as possible if there are any delays caused by weather.
