This September 6 and 7, in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Port City Pickleball is hosting a pickleball tournament to raise funds and support for children and families affected by pediatric cancer. Profits will go towards both the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation, who are funding a cure through their 43 Challenge, and Rapahope, who have free programming and camps for children battling cancer in South Alabama.
The reason the fee is $43.00 is because every day, 43 children are diagnosed with cancer. With cancer being the number 1 cause for death by disease in children, the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation is focused on finding a cure for these families.
Rapahope brings joy to the childhood cancer journey through recreational and support programs for those with childhood cancer and their families. They offer year round programming for these families, including an extraordinary summer camp here in South Alabama, that is completely free for the children.
