Tournament Description
Welcome to the second annual Summer Slam & Jam Pickleball Tournament and Live Music Festival — a summer weekend of festivities, featuring Minnesota’s largest pickleball tournament, live music, cornhole, delicious food and refreshing drinks.
Competitive Play
- Divisions for all skill levels, including Beginner, Senior and Pro divisions.
- Round robin play in pools of 6 teams across 2 courts at a brand new 18-court outdoor facility (Lakeview Knolls Park), just 5 minutes from Pints & Paddle.
- All teams advance to the same day single-elimination bracket at Pints & Paddle. Top teams will compete in our championship bracket while bottom teams will play in our friendship bracket.
- Both facilities located in Maple Grove, MN. Less than 5 minutes apart.
- All teams get a minimum of 6 games.
- All divisions start and finish IN A SINGLE DAY.
- All games recorded to DUPR. Proper division placement will be strictly enforced.
Post-Game Fun
- Relax and watch the championship matches, courtside or from our second floor mezzanine.
- Enjoy delicious food and drinks at the attached Pints & Paddle's taproom, featuring 78 self-serve taps and a scratch-made American kitchen.
- Unwind on the spacious patio with live music playing all day long.
Important: After registering, teams have 7 days to register their partner. Teams that miss this deadline will be moved to the waitlist.
Divisions can start as early as 7am and as late as 6pm. Specific division times will be released at least 2 weeks before the event, once registration numbers have been finalized.
Choosing the Correct Skill Division:
- Sign up for the division matching your HIGHER skilled player. For example, if Player A is 3.8 and Player B is 4.1, choose the 4.0 - 4.5 division.
- The tournament Director WILL adjust teams to ensure fair competition. Please signup for the correct division to make this easier for us.
- DUPR rating is NOT required. We may reach-out to unrated players to confirm the correct division.
- Unsure of your skill level? Contact Matt (matt@pintsandpaddle.com) to setup an evaluation at our open play sessions.
Sign up individually (we will help pair you) or team up with your pickleball partner.
Join us for a fun-filled weekend while supporting a great cause!
Additional Information
- Round robin games will be played to 11 points, win by 1.
- Bracket games will be played to 11 points, win by 2 OR first team to 15.
- Semi-final games will be played to 15, win by 2.
- 3rd place games will be played to 15, win by 2.
- Championship games will be best 2 / 3, play to 11, win by 2 OR first team to 15.
- This could be adjusted to a single game to 15 if timing does not permit.
DUPR: DUPR rating will be required during signup for any division. No exceptions. All players must play in the correct division according to their DUPR. All scores will be recorded. DUPR will be checked at signup time and teams will be moved into the correct divisions.
Both partner's DUPR ratings will be used to calculate a team DUPR rating. That rating must fall within the division specified limits. The team DUPR score is calculated using a weighted average: 70% of the highest rated player and 30% of the lowest rated player. Below is an example:
Player A is a 4.1 and Player B is a 3.6. If you take 70% of Player A's rating and 30% of Player B's rating, you will get an average of 3.95. Therefore, this team will sign up for the 3.5-4.0 division.
Here is the formula: (Player A x .7) + (Player B x .3)
Unrated players may be allowed to play in divisions based on the tournament directors discretion. A DUPR account will still be required so scores can be recorded.
Teams will be limited to a single 1 minute timeout per game.
DUPR Scores WILL be recorded for all amateur divisions this tournament. It will NOT be recorded for Pro/Open divisions.
Prizes given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
Traveling in for the tournament? We have preferred rates with local hotels.
In the interest of maintaining the tournament schedule, the Pickleball Director reserves the right to adjust scoring rules as needed. However, any adjustments will be announced and applied consistently across all matches.
