The 1st Annual Sun City Pickleball Club Championships presented by Novant Health & Optim Orthopedics will be held on October 3rd (Women & Men) and 4th (Mixed), 2026.
The tournament is open only to Sun City Pickleball Club members. Skill levels offered are 3.499 and under, 3.500 to 3.999, and 4.000 and over. Age groups offered are 50 – 59 years old, 60-64 years old, 65-69 years old, and over 70 years old for each skill level. Age groups will not be adjusted based on entries and there is no limit to the number of entries in any division.
Format: All divisions will be pool play followed by medal rounds. Pool play will be either one game to 15 or 11, win by 2, against each of the other teams in the pool. The number of pools, game length, and number of teams advancing to the medal rounds will all be based on the number of teams entered in the division.
PLEASE NOTE: For this event there will be no court monitors and players will be assigned to courts and enter their own results on their phones; you must have texting enabled and have your phone handy during play.
Age Groups: The age groups established for registration are fixed and you should play in your appropriate age group however you can enter in a younger age group. The age of the younger partner will determine the appropriate age group to enter.
Start Times: Event start times will start at 8:00 AM each day and will be determined after registration is closed based on the number of entries. An evening session will be used if the number of entries necessitate the use of the courts.
Souvenir: All players registered and paid will receive a commemorative golf style towel with the event logo.
Medals: Medals will be awarded to first, second, and third place teams in each event. Permanent plaques will also be produced that will show each year’s division winners starting with this inaugural event.

Ratings: The ratings used for registration will be DUPR Ratings, then self-rating. If you do not have a DUPR Rating (NR), please be sure that your self-rating is accurate. Please be sure that your DUPR account is connected to your Pickleball Brackets account, you will not be able to register without a connected DUPR account. If a player plays in two events the difference in skill level between the two events can be no greater than 0.5. Tournament Director reserves the right to move players from events entered to events deemed more appropriate by their rating. The rating of the highest rated partner will determine the appropriate skill level to enter.
Photography: Please note that photos and videos may be taken during the event. If a photographer wishes to enter the court to take photos, both teams must agree that it would be acceptable.
Hydration: Water will be only available from the water dispensers on site, please be sure to bring a refillable water bottle or your own supply of water or other beverages.
