TEAM CHALLENGE EVENT

The Surprise Pickleball Club is pleased to announce this first Team

Challenge competition tournament. In an expanded format, the event

will include a cash prize purse for the OPEN DIVISION. The teams will be made up

of four players and requires that each player is registered in the tournament. The

team brackets will include four age groups: 18 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 64 and 65

plus. Each age group will include skill levels: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5/5.0 and OPEN

DIVISION. Players may still play up in skill level and down in age.   These events will not affect the

player's DUPR rating and will not be reported at this time.  

Team Challenge Registration Note:

 Due to the Pickleball Tournaments software platform, currently it is

not yet able to accommodate team events. Therefore we are implementing a unique

registration format/process for the Surprise Cup Team Challenge. Two events are

listed in each age and skill level group; one is “Captains Only" and the other

"Team Members".

The team Captain will register using the Captains Only event, while the other

three players will register in the Team Members event. The Captain is

responsible for notifying the tournament of his teams name and players.

Players wishing to register in the Team Challenge event who do not yet have

partners should register in the Captains Only event. As players are added and

teams are established, the SPA staff will adjust registrations.

Women’s Day – 4 women (1 Player must register as the Captain) Friday December 12

OPEN WOMENS DIVISION - 4 women (1 Player must register as the Captain) Friday December 12

Men’s Day – 4 men (1 Player must register as the Captain) Saturday December 13

OPEN MENS DIVISION - 4 women (1 Player must register as the Captain)Saturday December 13

Mixed Day – 2 men and 2 women (1 Player must register as the Captain) Sunday December 14

OPEN MIXED DIVISION – 2 men and 2 women (1 Player must register as the Captain) Sunday December 14

PARTNER REPLACEMENT POLICY:

Any registered player losing a partner must replace that partner with an already registered player after registration is closed. The replacement must be in the same skill/age group that you are scheduled to play. Players can play down in age and up in skill. Replacements need to be known and communicated to Robin at rgweaver56@gmail.com by 5pm the day before you are scheduled to play. Replacements can be found on the players needing partners list.

Format

Round Robin format with a maximum of 8 teams per bracket.  Each team will play

4 doubles matches. Games will be 1 to 15, Win by 1, Rally Scoring.  First Team to

win 3 games is the winner. Should each Team have 2 wins after 4 games there will

be a Tiebreaker.  Tiebreaker format will be a Skinny Singles match, one game to

15, win by 1, Rally scoring.

TIEBREAKER MATCHES

Player order will be determined by the team Captain, once a TOTAL of 4 points is

scored, the next two players will rotate into the match and so on until the match

is concluded.

Scores will not be reported to DUPR at this time.

November 24, 2025- CANCELLATION DEADLINE:

There will be a non-refundable $5 per event service fee if a team withdraws before the CANCELLATION DEADLINE ABOVE. NO REFUNDS after cancellation deadline unless the Registration & Weather Insurance Policy has been purchased.
