Welcome to the Sydney Open Pickleball Tournament on 11 September, 2022 at Brush Farm.

This is NOT a Pickleball Australia sanctioned tournament. It will use the current IFP rules. They can be found at: IFP Official Rules of Pickleball

Specific details are listed below:

- Anyone registering must be a PANSW member. This would also be anyone who is a member of a club

- Entry Fee: $45.00/player. Second Event is $10.00.

- Early Bird entry Fee: $40.00/player. Second Event is $10.00 (till 14th August)

- Fees will be paid when arriving using EFTPOS. Any player not turning up on the day without prior notice will be invoiced. Players wishing to play in future tournaments with outstanding invoices will not be allowed to enter until the invoice is paid.

- Events will start with round robins and then finals

- You can play in more than one event during the tournament but the second event needs to be in a different category e.g. Mixed Doubles, Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles.

- Finals matches will be best out of three games to 11 with a win by 2.

- Players are guaranteed three games.

- Medals will be awarded to gold, silver and bronze winning competitors for each bracket.

- Mixed doubles will be played in the morning.

- Gender doubles will start after 11:00am

- EXCEPTION: the Single Gender Opens event has been scheduled so that competitors can also enter another event in the single gender category. No one else can enter two Single gender events.

The tournament director reserves the right to cancel due to weather, modify the events and/or schedule as needed pending influences beyond our control (ie. Fire drill, Covid restrictions).

• This is a small tournament with registration limited to 120 competitors. Numbers are restricted in each event. It is recommended that you register early. If the event you want to compete in is already full, you will be placed on the WaitList. This does not mean that you will not be able to compete. It means that we will try to accomodate your registration as places become available. You will be automatically notified if/when you are removed from the WaitList.

• Open categories are available for Mixed, Men's and Women's Doubles. This is also the category for all players who are rated 4.0+.

• Everyone registering should ideally have a partner registering also at close to same time. A registration is considered complete when the Team is complete. BOTH players must register within 6 days of the first player's registration OR the team will be moved to the WaitList. If you do not have a partner, you can look under 'Players Needing Partners' to find a partner. (Click on the large button next to the logo on the Home page of the tournament website).

* If you have registered and not found a partner by 22 August, you need to contact the organisers to seek assistance.

• When registrations are closed, any event with insufficient numbers for a competition will need to be collapsed and combined with another event. Competitors in the collapsed event will be notified so they can decide if they still want to play.

• Participants are required to enter events at their current skill rating. If you are not rated, consult the self rating guide on the PANSW website. PANSW Self Rating Guide

• At a minimum, referees will be scheduled on the gold medal match.

If you are unavoidably detained and it appears that you will not arrive in time for your game/match, please contact Yvonne Edwards. We can update you on the schedule and consider options but your game may result in a forfeit.

Tournament program*

This is the program schedule as of 4 September 2022. The current starting times of the events have been posted on the tournament website (Pickleball Brackets). Please be aware that tournament schedules are quite fluid.

We will have three excellent court controllers on the day who will ensure maximum usage of the pickleball courts. Thus, the games may start earlier. Alternatively, games may run over the allotted time in the schedule and thus playing times becomes extended.

Registration: 7:15am thru to 12:00pm

Mixed Doubles start from: 8:00am (includes Opens)

Women’s Doubles start from: 11:50am

Men’s Doubles start from: 11:50am

Men’s Doubles Opens start: 3:30pm

Women’s Doubles Opens start: 4:30pm

Last game planned to finish at: 7:05pm

* This program may be altered at the last moment due to acts of nature and/or emergencies.

Player requests for withdrawals will be accepted until Tuesday, 7th September, 2022 at 6pm, with a full refund less a $10 administration fee.

After 7th September, 2022 at 6pm, there will be no refunds provided except in the following:

- hospitalisation

- accident resulting in an inability to play

- suffering from COVID

- in isolation due to close contact with COVID or caring for a family member with COVID

- or other serious matter negotiated with us.
