WHY THIS TOURNAMENT IS SPECIAL
This year the tournament is extraordinarily special in that we are coming together to support a friend, and a member of our pickleball community.
Many of you know David Miller from the Ridge Club, Bosse Pickledom and the pickleball court. David’s 9-month-old grandson, Reed, was recently diagnosed with cancer with a genetic fusion that is so rare there are almost no other cases like his anywhere in the world. The brave little guy has undergone surgery and the doctors believe they successfully removed all the tumor. But as many of us know the surgery is the beginning point of a long cancer treatment plan which includes many rounds of chemotherapy. Reed’s parents are hopeful, but the future is uncertain. If the treatment is not successful, the cancer may quickly spread to other parts of his body like his brain, which would be fatal.
In addition to the emotional turmoil. Reed’s parents are experiencing the financial pressure of medical bills, travel expenses, and lost income that grows more worrisome every day. Reed’s parents are juggling to keep all the balls in the air to lovingly support their baby boy.
One thing we know for sure is that pickleball players are compassionate and caring. Please join us on the court for pickleball fun and to support baby Reed. Thanks to you this year the TIME-IN 5 (2025) pickleball tournament is donating 20% of the tournament’s net registration proceeds to help support Reed’s family and his recovery.
In addition to playing, a GoFundMe has been set up to help support Reed and his family during this challenging period. Fundraiser for Grace Miller by Sam Miller : Help Baby Reed Beat Rare Cancer]. Every bit of support — whether financial, emotional, or simply spreading the word — means a lot.
See you on the court.
