DIRECTOR'S DISCRETION
The tournament director & coordinator reserves the right to:
- Review, and possibly alter the rating of players who self-rate below or above their actual rating.
- Move players and teams between skill level brackets if on verification the wrong event has been entered.
- Merge or split brackets based on event registration. Any event with fewer than 4 entries will be combined with another event of closest possible standard.
- Change start times to facilitate smooth running of the tournament
- The tournament director reserves the right to modify the events and/or schedule as needed pending influences beyond our control (ie. Fire drill, Covid restrictions).
REGISTRATION
A registration is considered complete when the Team is complete. BOTH players must register for the entry to be complete. If you do not have a partner, you can look under 'Players Needing Partners' to find a partner. (Click on the large button next to the logo on the Home page of the tournament website). It is the entrant's responsibility to use this facility to find themselves a partner if they cannot enter with a friend.
All participants must be members of Pickleball Australia. Anyone who is a member of their state association (such as Pickleball Assocation of Queensland) or a club (such as Brisbane Pickleball Club), is automatically a member of Pickleball Australia. You will need to know your Pickleball Australia membership number to register.
PLAYER RATINGS
If you already have a Pickleball Bracket rating, this is the official Pickleball Australia sanctioned rating system that will be used.
If you have not entered a tournament before, and do not have a Pickleball Brackets rating you will need to self-rate. Previously rated players of past tournaments have a Pickleball Bracket rating which cannot be changed.
PLEASE NOTE: The 2.0-2.99 bracket is for players who are still developing basic skills and not for those wanting an easy win. The skill level covers the ability to:
- Sustain a short rally with players of equal ability.
- Demonstrate the basic shot strokes forehand, backhand, volley, overhead and the
serve, but with obvious weaknesses in most strokes and lacks consistency.
- Familiar with court positioning in doubles play.
To enter the 2.0-2.99 bracket you must register your rating as 2.0 or 2.5 so that the tournament software does not automatically enter you into a higher bracket.
DUPR – Players who only have a DUPR rating can use this as a guide to self-rate however if
you are an Advanced Beginner to Early Intermediate, you should be entering into the 2.5-
2.99 bracket.
Don’t hesitate to ask tournament directors and our Competition committee members for
advice on entry level.
REFEREES
We will endeavour to provide, if available, referees on the gold medal match. To discover some of the characteristics of playing with a referee go to the PANSW website and open the 'Playing with a referee' document.
DELAYS
If you are unavoidably delayed and it appears that you will not arrive in time for your game/match, please contact the Tournament Director. We can update you on the schedule and consider options but your game may result in a forfeit.
If you are more than 10 minutes late for your game your result may be a forfeit as we want to run as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
VOLUNTEERS
If you have a partner or friend attending the tournament with you, or if you are not playing in all events, you, or they, may have some time available to help out as a Volunteer. Any help would be much appreciated as this event relies on volunteers to run smoothly. Please click on the Volunteer button when completing your Registration.
