Tournament Description

Join us for a special UMass Lowell Homecoming event on Saturday, October 19th, welcoming pickleball players ages 18 and older.

All proceeds will benefit our Veteran students and the UMass Lowell Campus Recreation Center.

Tournament Games Format:

-Round Robin pool game format is play to 11 (win by 1)

-Top 4 teams will advance to playoffs

-Brackets with 9 or less: top and 2nd seed play for gold, 3rd and 4th seeds play for bronze.

-Brackets with 10 or more: will spilt in 2 pools where top seed will play 2nd seed of other pool in semi-finals and winners will play for gold in finals while losers of semi-finals will play for bronze.

-Women's 4.0 bracket will play each team twice. 1st seed plays 2nd seed for gold, 3rd seed plays 4th seed for bronze.

The Tournament Director reserves the right to merge brackets if there are not enough teams for a bracket, then skill divisions. We will do a round robin format with possibility of playoffs depending on time permitting. We reserve the right to combine or split brackets as necessary based on timing and those involved.

If you wish to add an additional category, the cost per person is $20 (i.e. playing gender and mixed). You cannot play in same category in different levels. (i.e. all women's level will play at same time, all men's level will play at same time and all mixed level will play at same time).

This is a Doubles only Tournament. (Times are subject to change). Please do not check in prior to time listed and we appreciate your patience if there are any delays to the proposed times.

Saturday Oct 19 Women's doubles (Times are subject to change):

--- Women's 3.0 & under: check in 7:45am - start: 8:15am

--- Women's 4.0+: check in 7:45am - start: 8:15am

--- Women's 3.0-3.5: check in 8:00am - start: 8:30am

--- Women's 3.5-4.0: check in 8:00am - start: 8:30am

Saturday Oct 19 Mixed doubles (Times are subject to change):

--- Mixed 4.0+: check in 10:45am - start 11:15am

--- Mixed 3.0 & under: check in 10:45am - start 11:15am

--- Mixed 3.0-3.5: check in 1:30pm - start 2:00pm

--- Mixed 3.5-4.0: check in 1:30pm - start 2:00pm

Saturday Oct 19 Men's doubles (Times are subject to change):

--- Men's doubles 4.0+ check-in at 4:30pm - start 5:00pm

--- Men's doubles 3.5-4.0 check in at 4:30pm - start 5:00pm

--- Men's doubles 3.0-3.5 check-in at 4:30pm - start 5:00pm

*Skill Level: (Ratings will be verified by the club at point of registration). Players with a DUPR rating must use that rating. Players with a USAPA UTPR rating but no DUPR rating must use that rating. Players with neither rating may self-rate within reason. The tournament reserves the right to move players and teams between skill-level brackets/events.

*Registering Together As A Team (TIP) : For a guaranteed spot in mixed doubles or doubles, the second partner must sign up within 5 days of the first partner's registration. Incomplete teams will be moved to the waiting list after that. Once the second partner registers, they will be moved back into the event IF THERE ARE SPOTS LEFT IN THE TOURNAMENT AND THE EVENT.

Refund Policy

*NO refunds for ANY reason as play will continue indoors if inclement weather. Please consider your registration a donation to our student Veterans.

*Replacement Players/Subbing* Entry fees may be transferred to a replacement player/sub of similar skill level at any time up through the morning of the event.

For Example: A player won’t be able to attend the tournament but has a replacement/sub. Can the replacement/sub take my spot? Yes, only if the player is of similar level, then he can take your spot for tournament play; payment would need to be worked out amongst yourselves.

Parking Information

Parking Fee: No Fee

Free parking starting at 7:00am in the East Parking Garage (47 Pawtucket St., Lowell, MA 01851) located across from the Campus Recreational Center and next to LeLacheur park. Please note: If you park in any of the street parking meter lots, you are subject to $25 fine if you don't pay the fee from 8am-8pm.

Weather

The tournament will take place at the Campus Recreation Complex Tennis Courts, weather permitting. In the event of inclement weather, the Campus Recreation Indoor Basketball Courts will be used instead.
