UPTOWN VRPA Christmas Tournament - EXCLUSIVE TO CURRENT VRPA MEMBERS.
December 14 & 15, 2024 – Pearkes Recreation Centre
This is a non-sanctioned fun event for exactly 64 players each day.
This event is only open to members of the VRPA. Registrants that are not members of the VRPA will be removed from registration and refunded (minus processing fees).
In an effort to includes as many VRPA members as possible, each registrant is only able to play ONE of two days.
Day 1 is intended for those who consider themselves more advanced players (Higher lever intermediate to advanced) .
Day 2 is intended for those who are are less advanced (beginner to lower level intermediate) . This is a fun tournament therefore this is self assessed.
Throughout the day, you will play with a total of 7 different players of different levels. Everyone will play a minimum of 12 games. Check-in starts at 7:30am on each day, with play starting at 8:00am. Please be on time, as play cannot start without you.
REGISTRATION: $40. Registration starts on November 16, 2024 at 11:00am and closes on November 25th.
Players will register for Coed Doubles and a partner will be assigned randomly
FORMAT
• It is essential that players arrive on time and are prepared to play all day if you make the playoffs
• at check-in you will receive your player number (assigned through a random draw), your schedule, and court numbers
• your partner’s player number will be on your schedule (as assigned randomly)
• you will play 3 round robins of 3 games, with one other player as a constant
• no time out in round robin play
• rounds 1-3 will be first to 9 points, win by 1
• each player records their team score on their own scoresheet, totals it and reports it to the scoring desk after each round robin is complete
• ties in total points at the end of rounds 1-3 and qualifying rounds determined by cutting cards
• after lunch you will be assigned to Division A or B depending on your earlier points. You will get a new player number and a new partner who you will keep for another round of qualifying games
• the top 8 teams in both division A and B will advance to playoffs
• Playoff qualification round games will be first to 11, win by 1
• Single Elimination playoff games will be first to 11 and medal games will be first to 15
This tournament will not be run through Pickleball Brackets software, so draws and results will not be available online.
