Valleystream Pickleball Club is excited to host our inaugural Valleystream Open tournament on September 13-15, 2024. We are looking forward to players enjoying our 14 dedicated pickleball courts in Ottawa, the Nation’s capital.
Skill and Age Categories
This will be a skill/age event for women’s, men’s and mixed in the Under 50, 50-59, 60+ age categories. Skill categories will range from 3.0 to 4.5, Open and Senior Open. The minimum event size will be 4 teams. The tournament is open to all players who are members of Pickleball Canada in good standing, and age is calculated as of December 31 of the current year. The tournament director reserves the right to combine brackets and change format based on registration numbers.
Your spot in the tournament is not guaranteed until both players have registered and paid. If both partners have not paid/registered within 5 days of the first registration, the team will be moved to the waitlist.
Tournament Format
All events shall have a minimum size of 4 teams.
The 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.0+ and 4.5 categories will be pool play/round robin and the top teams in each pool will advance to a single elimination playoff. Round robin matches will be one game to 15. The preliminary playoff games will be one game to 15. The gold/silver match will be best 2 out of 3 games, each game to 11. The bronze medal match will be one game to 15. All games will be win by 2.
Open and Senior Open events with 6 or more teams will be played as a double elimination format with prize money. Format will be best 2 out of 3, games to 11, win by 2. On the consolation side, it will be one game to 15, win by 2.
All gold/silver and bronze medal matches will be refereed.
The Franklin X-40 ball will be the official tournament ball.
Registration will open on July 2, 2024, and close on Sept. 1, 2024.
The tournament schedule is:
September 13, 2024 – Men’s / Women’s doubles 50-59 (3.5), 60+ (3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5) and Senior Open
September 14, 2024 – Men’s / Women’s doubles Under 50 and 50-59 (3.0, 3.5, 4.0+), Open, Senior Open
September 15, 2024 – Mixed Doubles Under 50, 50-59 and 60+ (3.0, 3.5, 4.0+), Open, Senior Open
