Join us for the very first Welcome Y'all Doubles Tournament on January 11, 2025, at the Lexington Ice Center and Sports Complex. The complex's ice rink will also be open throughout the duration of the tournament. A portion of the rink proceeds will also be donated to KRM Lexington, so bring the whole family! Support immigrant and refugee welcome while beating back the post-holiday slump with exciting tournament and skating fun!
Pool Play + Bracket Play + Gold/Silver/Bronze matches
4 teams per pool, a maximum of seven pools. Pool winners will be entered into a single-elimination knockout bracket, that will determine 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Second-place teams in each pool will also be entered into a single elimination bracket.
Each team gets 3 guaranteed matches in pool play, plus additional matches in the knockout rounds.
8am: Warm Up and Beginners Clinic
9am: Beginners Tournament
1pm: Sabotage Matches
3pm: Advanced Tournament
Teams will play each other once during Pool Play to determine seeding for knockout rounds.
All matches will be played to 11, win by 2, but capped at 15 minutes.
Seeding for knockout rounds will be determined by: 1. Record 2. Point Differential
Rating: Players will self-rate. <3.50 are recommended to enter in the beginners tournament, while 3.5+ should play advanced.
SABOTAGE MATCHES: Limited team spots available for our featured event of the day where teams will get the opportunity to pay to make their opponents' play a little (or a LOT!) more challenging. Think: pool noodles, frying pans, boxing gloves, and so much more. Sabotage Matches will be played to 15, using side-out scoring. Teams that sign up for these matches need to be prepared to put their money where their paddles are!
DOUBLES: Each partner of a doubles team needs to pay the registration fee. Partner must register within 7 days or team will be moved to the waitlist. Individuals without a partner can register and either find a partner or be paired with someone on the day of the tournament. There are no gender restrictions on doubles teams. Teams can be mixed, two men, or two women.
The Welcome Y'all Doubles Tournament benefits KRM Lexington, a central Kentucky nonprofit serving refugees and immigrants with a wide range of services and support. Learn more about how you can help welcome refugees and immigrants with KRM Lexington at www.kyrm.org.
