The 2025 Furry Fracas will be our 4th annual tourney in support of the Hamilton County Humane Society and all the awesome work they do to protect and place pets.
Are you ready to compete on REAL pickleball courts?? We are expecting at least 400 players for this year's tourney, which will be held at the brand new PICKLR facility in Noblesville! (More about this venue below.)
These things are VERY IMPORTANT - please read:
1 - on Friday night, Feb 28th (the night before the tourney) anyone signed up for the Furry Fracas tourney can come to a "Friday Freeview" at The Picklr (Noblesville) from 6pm on to practice at, and experience, the tourney venue!
2 - When checking out, there is no option to "Pay Now." You will get an email with payment instructions. You may also pay at the tourney the day of your event. Please select "Pay Later" or "Onsite Payment" when you checkout.
3 - All events will be played with the Vulcan VPRO Flight ball.
4 - One of the challenges tournaments (and DUPR) face, is the lack of a rating system that is exclusively used by software like Pickleball Brackets to determine which events players are qualified for and those events for which they are over qualified (anyone with a 4.0 or higher rating shouldn't be registered in a 3.5 or lower event). At the same time, rating systems like DUPR also are imperfect but DUPR addresses this be assigning a "reliability" score to a player's DUPR rating. We will use a 75% or higher reliability score to determine which events players qualify for. This will provide players the best likelihood of playing others with similar skill levels in each event. Unfortunately there is no way to screen "75% DUPR reliability" during signups, so we will review every registration and for any that appear to be playing in a level below their DUPR (75%) we will reach out and request a registration change to an event that player qualifies for based on their DUPR rating at the time of registration.
5 - Speaking of DUPR, we will put ALL games into DUPR at the conclusion of each event.
6 - Thanks to a very generous sponsor, we have PRIZE MONEY events! There is a Men's Doubles Open, a Women's Doubles Open, and a Mixed Doubles Open all of which will pay out prize money as follows:
1st place team earns $1,000
2nd place team earns $500
3rd place team receives a registration refund
... for EACH of the three events! That means the total prize money awarded is approximately $5,000!!
No players fees are used for the $$ event. :)
A word about The Picklr: If you haven't experienced the energy and excitement that is "The Picklr" you are in for a treat! The Noblesville location will open January 25th and has 19 dedicated Pickleball courts, a mezzanine, and a "tap wall" with various drinks (gatorade, beer, etc.) available. (Note: The Tap Wall doesn't have a completion date re: licensing yet so we can't guarantee it'll be open for our tourney.)
