Welcome to the Massachusetts Senior Games Pickleball Tournament! We are looking forward to finally getting back to the MASG pickleball tournament. This year’s tournament will be held at Fore Kicks in Norfolk, MA (www.forekicks.com). This year we will be using Pickleball Brackets giving you real time access to registration details as well as results detail.
The schedule is as follows:
• Friday Women’s doubles and Men’s singles
• Saturday Mixed
• Sunday Women’s singles and Men’s doubles
Any player that did not play in 2019 must show a signed printout of the Fore Kicks waiver upon check-in. Here is a link to Fore Kicks Account/Login for you to create an account and sign a waiver.
Registration will open at 7:30AM and play will begin at 8:00 AM each day and will be open all day. This is a non-sanctioned tournament. Games will be self-scored and officiated. Each team must announce the score before serving. If they fail to do so, the opposing team may call loss of serve. The format will be mostly round robin games to 15 points (win by 2), larger groups may be playing to 11 and have playoffs. Smaller groups maybe playing each team twice. Each team will be allowed to call two one-minute timeouts per game. Court monitors will record game results and will enforce a five-minute period between games for warm-up. The team winning starting choice gets choice of serve, side, receive or defer. Matches won will determine bracket scoring. Tiebreaker will follow Pickleball Brackets standard. Which can be reviewed on the Pickleball Brackets site. If you aren’t there for your start time, your game will be forfeited. Medals should be available at the scoring table approximately 15 minutes after completion of each event.
The official tournament ball will be the yellow Onyx "Fuse" indoor. Yellow shirts and shorts are not allowed. Players will find a small bucket on each court that contains two balls and first server ribbons. Please keep track and use just your two balls.
Gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded for each age group. If the winner in any age group isn't a MA resident, a gold medal will also be awarded to the highest finishing MA resident. In brackets with combined ages, medals will be awarded to each age division.
You will be using the designated court/courts for the entire first round robin for that day. If your age group has a playoff, it may be on a different court to be announced at the completion of your first round of play There's no need to register early each morning; just be there 30 minutes prior to your event's scheduled start time to register.
In an effort to reduce plastic waste, bottled water will not be provided this year. Please plan to bring your own water bottle, which can be refilled at water bubblers available at Fore Kicks.
Approximately September 10, the entire schedule will be posted on Pickleball Brackets and an email link will be mailed to all participants.
